I kinda really want to see a fic where Ryland and Alex go to a music festival and sees NSP and Sta/rbomb. Their reactions to seeing these successful guys who look so much like them.

Or maybe they come across the Ga/me Gru/mps channel and they always watch together, finding it entertaining and funny how Arin and Dan's voices sound so similar to their own and the cartoon avatars look a bit like them. Also the shock they go through when the grumps upload an ad, letting Ryland and Alex see Arin and Dan for the first time.

After the Killcore tournament, Alex's thoughts turn to Sam and how she put her Olympic tennis goals on hold for them. He and Ryland feel bad, knowing how it feels to have something you're passionate about ripped from you. They decide they want to help her get back in the game, after finding out her tennis 'friends' have moved on without her. Alex starts reading many tennis coaching books, while Ryland learns how to play. They approach Sam, offering their help. Sam is skeptical at first but she agrees, not having any other options.

Plus, Alex's coaching for Killcore was very effective, even if she had gone overboard pushing herself. And she's seen firsthand that Alex and especially Ryland do care about her well being. Alex begins coaching her in much the same way as before but with a bit more praise and care. He still feels guilty for having a hand in putting Sam in the hospital and wants to avoid a repeat. Ryland becomes her practice partner and although he isn't that good, his strong flat returns and unpredictable movements are very helpful. Sam has to think quickly and strategize her moves. After every training session, the three go back to Ryland and Alex's place. Sam sits sideways on the couch, leaning back into Alex's side. Her legs are across Ryland's lap. Ryland massages her, still weak, knee. His large hands firm and delicate from years of his secret hobby of knitting. The three talk about anything and everything, finding complete comfort and relaxation with each other.

Can’t help but notice on a rewatch that Ryland and Steamin kinda behave like they were more than friends in the past... 

Like maybe Steamin was jealous of Ryland’s fame and skill and purposely got close to him only to humiliate and ruin his reputation and that betrayal led to Ryland having insecurities about himself, his distrust of other people and his pessimistic outlook on life...

I'll just be in my corner continuing to have fun shipping everyone(except kamal) and coming up with headcanons like I have been since the beginning.

Alex never paid much attention to Steamin since Ryland has made it clear how much he hates him and wants nothing to do with him.

But Alex can't help but notice the way Ryland seems to reject physical contact between them(lifting Alex's arm from around his shoulders, not letting him touch his hand when going for the game controller) yet he never pushes Steamin away from touching him with familiarity, ruffling his hair, grabbing his arm and those constant fake-ass hugs.

In fact it seems like Ryland is doing everything but avoiding him. He doesn't want Steamin to know he cares enough to hate him? So he shows up at Steamin's beck and call? Endures the underlying ridicule and humiliation?

Alex can't help but wonder. Does Ryland still harbor feelings for Steamin, despite everything he's done?

Is Steamin more Alex's rival than Ryland's?

Does all of this have nothing to do with Killcore?

Has Alex lost Ryland before he ever had the chance to have him?

Can Alex prevent Ryland from getting hurt again and show him what it's like to have someone truly care about him?
