the first time krennic and partadad partagaz meet syril headcanons:
krennic: not happy before syril even gets there: ‘what kind of a name is syril? i don’t trust him already.’
partagaz: wants to make sure that dedra doesn’t feel it’s interrupting her career: ‘remember, there are always other fish in the sea. romance isn’t everything.’
krennic: irritated that he’s impressed with syril’s tailoring the moment the guy walks through the door. gets even more annoyed when he finds out syril did it himself. decides to be even meaner to him as a result.
partagaz: honestly doesn’t know what someone who works at the bureau of standards is contributing to dedra’s life. has to hide his shock and concern when he sees her smile at a joke syril makes. wonders if he needs to book her in for a doctor’s appointment just in case.
krennic: grills him on his job, his education and his salary. tuts when syril says he only speaks one language. “i know five and lio knows seven. dedra herself knows six.” is thrown when instead of getting embarrassed, syril says he loves how clever dedra is.
partagaz: simply watches carefully. realises dedra can’t stop looking at him (she’s not as subtle as she thinks she is). notices how syril tops up her water first every time. notices how he brought her favourite chocolates as a gift for dessert.
krennic: tries to rib syril for still living with his mother. is once again thrown when syril says that he does his best to value his family, and hopes that his future children will be happy to still be close to him when they’re adults.
partagaz: notices how this makes dedra smile.
krennic: refuses to shake syril’s hand at the end of the night, though he does comment quickly on how nice syril’s suit is before swishing away.
partagaz: does shake his hand. tells him to come again soon and quietly tells him dedra’s favourite flowers (something she tells no-one) when dedra isn’t listening.
after syril has left:
partagaz: “she could do far, far worse. it’s good to see our girl happy.”
krennic: “i hate him.”
