IN REFERENCE TO THE YGO / JOJO CONNECTION: -YGO's author has stated previously that he likes jojo/other shounen manga, and takes inspiration from them. -Also is set/has major plot points in Egypt, again, taking inspiration from SDC -Yugi gains a "guardian spirit" these are both kinda vague connections that I see as being inspired by jjba-- but the real kicker is the D'Arby Elder battle. So the entire plot of THAT BATTLE in its most basic form, as we all know, is that a card player gambles (c
their soul against a Gambler From Egypt™ and will lose their soul if they lose the game. So then look at the basic plot of YGO- at its inception and in the early chapters, the manga was all about literally sending peoples souls to the shadow realm/having them lose their souls if they lose a Shadow Game that the Pharoah - a Gambler From Egypt™ - challenges them to. Especially in the early stages of YGO, its not all cards, so it's very much in line with how D'Arby operates. It's a pretty clear (c)
connection, unfortunately the only sources I have are the mangas themselves but it's just somethin u can figure out pretty easily for yourself. Just a fun tidbit but yeah! YGO was very much inspired by the first D'Arby battle and then kinda grew into its own thing from there.
