I'm not a massive gear nerd, however I do like to choose equipment that will last. This little scout 2.0 fire steel has been a daily companion of mine for almost 4 years now, they really last a long time, it's seen quite a bit of abuse over the years with me experimenting with different ways of striking. I don't like to create gigantic showers of sparks, I find it a little un-nessecary, I much prefer a small Finley directed burst of sparks, its much more effective and these light my fire steels seem to work the best. However this little guy is starting to get a little worn out now and I suspect the end may snap off any time soon, it'll still work but be relegated to being my back up fire steel. I've now upgraded to this guys big brother the army 2.0 model, this time with a recycled coconut husk handle making it not only look a bit cooler but also a touch more environmentally friendly! @lightmyfire #forest #fire #edc #outdoors #outdoorgear #outdoorblogger #goodkit #swedishfiresteel #firelighting #bushcraft #survival #kitporn #newstuff #menofoutdoors #knowmorecarryless #wildernesslife #youtuber #greatoutdoors #ferrorod
