Okay so this is random, but hear me out: An AU where all YouTubers are smaller YouTubers or "regular" people. The company Google decides to take a step up from their Google Assistant project, calling it Google IRL. However, they're taking innocent people and turning them into droids, starting with the regular dude Mark Fischbach. When his friends realize he's missing and search for him, they find a video from small YouTuber Matthias. His friends must stop Google &save Mark before it's too late.
(ohh it reminds me of the orson au)
Ah, but just imagine it like. They’re used to Mark going dark every once in a while and not talking to any of them for days, that’s how he recharges, but then it goes on for months, far longer than he’s ever been gone for and they’re worried. It’s Tyler who discovers it.
It’s late at night and he’s been clicking through the youtube rabbit hole for hours, hoping for a distraction from his worry. One thumbnail in particular catches his eye, a familiar face staring at him from a tiny square picture. He doesn’t remember Mark mentioning any collaborations, especially not with whoever Matthias is and this looks like a legit vlog. There’s no links to Mark’s channel anywhere and the description is a simple “cool package that I’ve been talking about finally arrived! :D”. Tyler clicks on the video, trepidation lining his throat.
Matthias looks like a nice enough guy with a nice, if somewhat messy house. Tyler doesn’t know what he expects, not paying much mind to the small square package in Matthias’ hand, at least not until he puts it down and from it springs Mark, if slightly thinner and paler, dark circles under glowing, eerie blue eyes. His voice is the same, deep and smooth with just the slightest hint of gravel and Tyler feels sick.
Mark (or Google?) look furious, as if it takes every fiber of his being to obey the orders directed at him (or maybe it’s that he’s trying to not follow them, trying to find he free will that had been coded away from him). The video ends with Matthias reading through the instruction manual and slipping a thin metal collar around Mar-Google’s neck, some sort of maintenance check tool if the “android” was acting against code.
Tyler turns the video off before Matthias can finish his closing stating and outro, breathing heavily and feeling as if his lungs were composed of metal. His fingers hover over his phone, tempted to text Mark for the fiftieth time that day.
He calls Ethan instead.
