Edega used to be a physically affectionate person before throwing himself into work. He was the type of person to hug you when he saw you, grab someones wrist or arm to lead them somewhere, things like that. But the habit died down when he got absorbed by his career, he stopped having that little bit of softness.

Then, Ian came around. And he's the same way. He'll touch a patient's arm while talking to them, bump and rest his head against Ada's shoulder like a cat, hug friends and hold their hands without any care. Edega saw himself in Ian, subconsciously, wondering why his heart hurt whenever Ian did something kind.
