anyone else think it was fucked up when the crew fawned over blue after the announcement of their death just moments before? i think about it sometimes.
anyway there's some red and blue analysis down below, have at it sport

Blue is a HUGE narrative foil to Red, highlighting just how terrible they think they are at their job. Red suffers from *terrible* impostor syndrome, that they aren't a good captain, and Blue only serves as a living reminder of all the things that make a good leader, of the things that Red just isn't. Red has to ride Blue's coattail just to have a sense of what being a good captain entails. Taking their ideas, butting into their motivational speeches, even to the point of mirroring their behaviors and *tone of voice* in the spanish dub.
These two are so interesting and yet their dynamic isn't explored in the show beyond some animation choices and localized dubbing choices as well.
Another differing trait between the two is how the two express their emotions. Red is up front, they're rash and blurt out whatever they're feeling, they think out loud. Blue isn't that. They're passive, they don't act on how they're feeling beyond a change in expression, it's internalized. The two share the trait of being passionate about what they do, playing into their theatrical selves. Blue can go on and on during one of their impassioned speeches about how much they've help others, about what others care for, but they just. Don't talk about their own emotional state, except for when they're *alone.*
Thinking about it, the two do think aloud, it's just the places they tend to do it in. Red will air out their dirty laundry in front of everyone's faces, Blue only gets to indulge in their troubles behind locked doors. (I mean, a pen recorder? You can argue it's for research and note taking purposes, but the notes they've taken are a little more personal than what you'd expect from a professional setting, talking about how much sleep they sacrificed for their cause, how they think they're at a dead end in their research.
I think they're just a dramatic hoe. they both are and its a shame the show doesn't utilize the dynamic they built up

I find it so interesting that, during the fight, it was still consistently Blue that was acting capable. Even in a literal zombie-parasite state, they had refrained from acting. brainless? Taking the weapon from Purple and Red?
The Zombmates couldn't be all Greens control and doing, I think those baby parasites had been maneuvering something, even if it was as disjointed as body parts can be. Of course the weapon wasn't anything lethal to the living crewmates, but it's starkly different between the run and tackle method of the other zombmates.
And not to mention, they chose *Blue* as the one Red would have an, albeit minor, altercation with. Purple had their own altercation with Cyan in the same fight sequence, so I'd believe this was done as a sort of parallel between the two.
If Purple had to grapple with Cyan, a reflection of all the good they lost during this trip, then I'd believe Red had to fight Blue for similar character building reasons, tackling their impostor syndrome issues.

the roleplay got us cooking up white/yellow/brown content. this doesn't make sense. orange is there too and will soon be added to the polycule once i make content for them.
i was going to make colored designs, but got distracted with The Roleplay. you might ask, lime is big, how do they fit in the vent? heh. well, have you ever tried swallowing jello?
oh and my oc. gray. once loved to research alien life and was even a communications officer that knew different alien species. knew too much and the ship they were on suddenly crashed. ain't that a kick in the head?
