A03 link: (not yet, waiting for my writing email to get accepted)
Reader is gender nuetral and a bug. This takes place in dirtmouth before the events of the game, but after the fall of Hollownest. An Innkeeper is mentioned solely for story's sake.
No tws (As far as I can tell. If it needs one, I'll add it)
[I got a cold so I decided to write fanfiction. I'm not very used to writing fics, at all, so sorry if this is kind of lackluster. There is a severe lack of hornet x reader content on here. Hope the art makes up for it.]
You had fallen to a sickness. Not a horrible one, it certainly wasn't deadly to you, but it sure wasn't convenient. You had quarantined yourself, both for the safety of others, and because you didn't want to step into the outside world looking like utter shit.
Your throat felt try and like your chitin would flake if you were to scratch at it. You did. It wasn't. But you felt like it.
You laid in your bed, a book in hand. You wished there were a cure for common ailments, but there were only temporary reliefs from the symptoms. You had taken them, but you still felt quite ghastly.
You set your book down, and got up, deciding to make yourself something. Bread? Maybe? As you made your way to the kitchen, a knock came from your front door. You sighed, before walking over and opening it. You were pleasantly surprised to find it your lover, Hornet.
"You look..."
"Horrid. I know. I've come down with a cold. I'd suggest staying away from me until I am better." You would hate to befall your beloved with an illness.
"You forget what I am. Your sickness will not affect me." Right. Her demigod blood. How could you forget? Hornet pushed her way past you, all the while dragging you back to your room by your arm.
"Rest. I will not have you impaired for too long." She pushed you to lay down, to which you complied. She left the room. You laid there in silence for a while. You hated being sick. Eventually, Hornet returned with a warm bowl of soup. She sat on the bed and handed it to you after you sat up.
"Thank you..." You uttered before drinking the warm broth. The heartyness and warmth of it soothed your scratchy throat. You sighed in relief.
"That's very nice... did you make it?" You asked, illiciting a shake of the head from Hornet.
"No. I got it from the innkeeper."
You nodded. "Well, either way, thank you. I feel a bit better now."
She took the bowl, leaving the room. She once more came back, before setting down her needle and joining you under the covers. She wasn't the most for physical affection, preferring actions over anything romantic. You were fine with that, but the chance to cuddle with your lover was always a welcome one. You buried your face under the chin of her mask.
"I apologize that you have to deal with such a weak creature." You said, almost guilty. She batted you on the head in response.
"Cease that, I don't need your dramatic self loathing. I chose to carry the burden that mortals tend to have. I will not have you complaining like this. Rest."
You laughed softly, and nodded. "Thank you. I am lucky to have someone so wonderful to live my life with. I will repay this however I can... when I no longer feel like death, that is."
You closed your eyes, slowly falling asleep under the warmth of your lover, as she gently stroked your back.
You'd woken up a couple times due to the discomfort of your cold, but felt pleasantly surprised to find Hornet still next to you. She was sleeping peacefully, her claws gently, but firmly, wrapped around your own. You were not used to finding her asleep, with how much of a protector she was, so you were overjoyed to see her finally rest as well. You pulled up the blanket a little further over her, and snuggled against her once more, before finally going to sleep for good, until morning.
[And also some art I made for it. Woahhh Leviathan draws a background for once. Id in alt]
Corestrings except it's my soulsona and Gaster is a big goopy snake man.
Still tweaking my soulsona design. I see people with such creative designs for theirs, and I can't help but want mine to be more than just an imp with wings and a heart motif.
