Finally finished my 2025 “games I played” art. I beat 32 and completed 2 games total. Obviously I had to draw the two completions. FINALLY beat Ballos in Cave Story (on easy mode 😅).

There is a Tamagotchi Pac-man II there now, and I FINALLY got a Mimitchi! It’s a good Tamagotchi, even if it doesn’t poop.

The industry has a habit of pressuring creators to sacrifice cha ra character, pacing, and story for the sake of what sells. Pump out endless content and never miss your deadline, and everybody gets payed.
I don’t buy this as an excuse. Number one, he’s even traced for cover art. Number two, if I remember correctly he was shocked when people on Twitter started pointing out he traced that cover art.
This one. It’s actually more heavily traced than this pic implies; he just slightly tilted the picture so it’s not 1-for-1, but the hand is clearly traced, the torso is clearly traced, and if you tilt the picture you’ll find that the closest leg is fully traced as well.
Many mangaka might copy/paste or trace their own art. I know it is also a common tactic for backgrounds, where they take their own photographs and either trace or digitally render them to fit with the scene rather than worry about creating entire backgrounds.
It is not legal to just blatantly trace copyrighted work from another artist, and it isn’t right. But this is what happens when otaku who only learned how to draw by tracing are hired. That’s what this is imho. This isn’t the kind of thing actual artists do. He does this as a crutch because he never practiced anatomy and doesn’t know he can pull from real-life references. You can even tell in the picture I used. The perspective is off even when he traced it. The folds of Goku’s clothes around his ass are pointing the opposite way they should be with where his leg is facing. Doesn’t help when a lot of Marvel comic artists already blindly trace art or don’t know anatomy.
It’s kind of like a game of telephone, and at the end you have someone like Toyotaro, who has no clue what he’s doing.
As different as they are, Stripe Mom and Dot Mom would be fast friends, and much like their children, they wouldn’t realize it until somebody pointed it out to them. “I have a friend!? :O”

The only downside to Joker in Smash is that, he being a Shin Megami Tensei rep, we could have gotten Jack Frost instead.
Honestly it’s a miracle that P5 got a rep to begin with. Atlus hasn’t been doing much to push SMT for a long time, so it’s no wonder the main franchise wasn’t even up for consideration lol.
