The mountain frees me from entitled feelings - The Tree Ring, "Hummingbird Pause" - @salty_mike took a bunch of photos at a beautiful lookout right at the start of the Chiang Dao summit hike. With the recent rain, the trail, which is only open a few months out of the year, has been closed. It is cold... and I don't wanna. So I wont think. I wont act as if I havea choice. Past me thought this was a good idea, future me begs for it. So I will trust myself. I wont think. Just do. .. I will bundle up in fabulous sweaters and cozy textures. Hats, blankets, scarves, and cinnamon butter in my coffee. ... I will sit outside and breathe in the deliciously crisp air. Listen to the bird song like tinkling crystal through the nearly leaf-less trees. Church bells make music as the seekers make their way through town in their finest. ... It was a grumbling fight to get out here; and I am immediately grateful. ... The cold air carries this sound to me with more distance and clarity. I close my eyes. Sit up straight and witness the town waking up.. ... I sit and close my eyes. Sit up straight, and give thanks that for today I sat when i didn't want to, I went outside when i didnt want to, I got out of bed when I didnt want to.
