Fic prompt #37
Dpxdc
Danny's plainness was a given, a fact he'd accepted long ago. But what puzzled him was why people would often remark on his attractiveness as a ghost, without even be able to recognizing him in the street. It wasn't until he stumbled upon a painting of his ghost form that the mystery began to unravel. As a ghost, his form was shaped by emotions, feelings, and desires. People often gaze into the mirror, critiquing their features, wishing they were different and so did him.
When Danny looked at his ghost form, he noticed his features were subtly altered, reflecting those desires. The painting revealed a version of himself that was distinct yet familiar. The change in color and behavior made it plausible that no one would connect the dots between his two forms.
This realization left Danny with mixed feelings - delight in his ghostly appearance, frustration at not being able to translate that into his everyday life. His obsession with showcasing the similarities between his forms, without being overt, led him to carry around artwork and photos. People thought he was just an hardcore fan.
Despite the misunderstanding, he met some great people, like Timothy. Timothy was cool, even if he sometimes picked up on the darker undertones of Danny's fixation on his Phantom form.
