Day 4.5: Favorite Meta or Theory
Admin: Any theory involving Goro being alive after the events of Persona 5/5R are immediate favorites on my end, but there’s one particular one that I found semi-recently. I don’t remember where I found it, unfortunately, but I’ll explain the main points as best I can. They started by bringing up how Morgana says in the original game how he was able to stay in existence because the Phantom Thieves didn’t forget him and felt he belonged with them. And then they immediately connected it to Royal and how Ren, and you as the player, make the conscious choice of whether or not you want to keep your promise to Goro. By saying you won’t forget your promise, you’re essentially giving him a place to exist in the world.
It’s honestly the sweetest thing and makes the Akeshu fangirl in me squeal. In my headcanon, Ren never stops thinking about Goro, to begin with. He thinks about him daily. The fact that this can be interpreted as a reason Goro is alive is so precious and I love it.
