thinking about lucien vanserra, sunshine incarnate, out and about in velaris. coming across a young fae selling flowers to get enough coin for a treat from a nearby vendor. crouching down low to peruse the blooms and, on a sigh: i just don’t know how i’m meant to choose. would it be terribly selfish for me to take them all? trying not to laugh when the youngling cannot hide her glee, though she tries with a very serious, not terribly, no. way overpaying for these flowers that he does not need. tipping his head towards the vendor she is now furtively glancing towards. off you go then, little lady. before he packs up for the day. smiling to himself with a basket of flowers at the crook of his elbow as he goes back to his business, bright, happy, feeling like himself for the first time in a long while.
curly it is so fucking depressing transcribing your thoughts. i want to give you a (painless) hug. you. you sad wet cat of a man. you shouldn’t have had to suffer all this. i love you

Oh, uh… I’m sorry about that. If it helps any, I very much appreciate that you do. So thank you for that. Uh… love you. Thank you.
Do you think art and Patrick talked with each other from 2006 to 2019?? Did they talk?? Did something happen? Did they have one last laugh for the old times after a few drinks but then forget it the next morning?? Did tashi know it?? Im curious
I think the literal interpretation of the movie is that there was a clean break the day of Tashi’s injury. I think in reality it’s more likely that the friendship would slowly drift until they stopped “keep[ing] in touch” in Art’s words. But “we don’t play professionally and don’t keep in touch” has context behind it that feels cold, if that makes sense? It’s such a clinical way to put the loss of a best friend.
If I were to try to write out what I feel like that friendship ending looked like— it would be silence for a week or two after the “Patrick get the fuck out” slash Tashi injury incident. Maybe a random text from Patrick wishing Art good luck on a match, a brief conversation. No phone calls, just easy, quick words typed on a shitty blackberry. Until that just becomes a “happy birthday” every year, until it feels like there’s no point trying anymore
