I also would like to add, about the whole "daenerys is a white savior" debate on user robbstark's set, as someone who only watches the show and have not read the books and only have a few limited knowledge about it, that we also shouldnt forget that even though Martin wrote and created her entire arc, Game of Thrones is still, ultimately, a show written and produced by Hollywood. If the show wanted to portray ancient slavery as it was, where are the White slaves? And with that logic, there should also be POCs in power. The only POCs in the show, NOT THE BOOKS, are either slaves, former slaves, or a group of people who has a reputation of savagery which parallels to the harmful depictions of native brown people around the world. And the only POCs who are shown with power, House Martell, are killed off or completely written off their entire importance to the narrative as a whole. Also, not to mention that WOC from house martell are sexualized which again parallels to the fetishization of brown and black bodies.

I still love Daenerys with all my heart because she represents something completely different to me, but completely excusing the harmful depictions of POCs from Hollywood is disgusting.
