Found it on Honkaku Mystery Club's webpage, and as a winner of their award, this book certainly not disappointing. A short stories collection, rather than a novel, this book dealt with two high school students who were fascinated with murders. Yes, like most mystery books, they did investigate the murders, but no, they didn't care about catching the murderers. They just want to satisfy their insatiable thirst of seeing murders with their own eyes. The two main characters remind me of Saki and Tokiya from Tsukumodo Antique Shop, while this and that book had somewhat similar darkness around them, this one is definitely darker and more sinister. And while the book is pretty good, the movie, not so much. It just feels like they tried to mix all the different short stories from the book into one movie plot, and the result is, honestly, quite a mess. There is also the manga version, and using simple google search, you may find that one particular scene in the book is really gross, like, Junji Ito-level of gross. Well, at least the manga tried to stick to the original story (in the book, on that same scene, a murder victim was described in detail).
