there was shouting coming from Riley's apartment. it started about twenty minutes earlier, Riley's mother got there, made some remarks about their living situation, their pets, everything. but that Riley could handle, it was when their mom started snooping through their stuff, looking for reasons to point fingers, that Riley got mad.

"y' won't find anything."

"I'm just checking. making sure you aren't back in your habits."

"really mom?"

a back and fourth, which turned into a screaming match, basically Riley trying to defend themself and their mom shouting accusations. it went on, for so, so long until Riley's mother finally snapped.

"you are downright UNLOVABLE!"

and damn did that sting, Riley fell silent almost instantly.
