Gotham 30 Day Challenge: Day 2: Favorite Ship

I know. Cliche. Sue me.

There are so many ships on this show to love (and I would love this one even more if it had actually happened) but Nygmobblepot will always be my favorite because of the absolutely undeniable chemistry that exists between them in every single scene.

Also, as an Ed fan, it’s nice to see him in a relationship with someone who doesn’t devalue him. Considering that Kristen and Lee both make him feel inadequate and unworthy of them at every possible opportunity, I love seeing him in a relationship with someone who sees him as an equal, as someone who’s just as worthy as they are of love and affection.

And I’m not oblivious to how toxic this relationship is. They’re villains, and they act like villains whether they love each other or not. They hurt each other constantly and are hardly ever happy with each other. But they still care for each other at the end of the day, and they need each other, even when they don’t want to. 

Ultimately, I don’t believe either of them have known love before that compares with what they felt for each other, which is why I love their dysfunctional affection despite all of the heartaches that go along with it.

Gotham 30 Day Challenge:  Day 1: Favorite Female Character

I was skeptical about this character when she was first brought in for many reasons. For one thing, I felt like she was going to be a stand-in love interest for Oswald as an excuse to erase his feelings for Edward, which felt like a ridiculous cop-out.

However, I loved this character in practice. Despite my standing love for Crystal Reed from her Teen Wolf days, this character speaks for herself. She’s strong and ruthless and independent and everything I’ve ever wanted in a badass female villain. She is certainly the character I never knew I needed and I would give anything to have her back on the show. 

From her manipulation of Zsasz and Jim and Oswald to her showdown with Lee and her control over Professor Pyg, Sofia Falcone has been utterly fantastic from the very beginning.

Gotham 30 Day Challenge:  Day 3: Favorite Season

Jerome. Wonderful Jerome.

There are so many things to love about season 3 of Gotham. Jerome returns, Oswald and Ed become besties, Jervis Tetch enters the picture. Season 3 is by far my favorite for all of these reasons, only to be completely disappointed by most of the storylines’ continuations in season 4. 

Jerome’s at his craziest and Nygmobblepot’s at their shippiest. I couldn’t have asked for much more.

Gotham 30 Day Challenge: Day 5: Least Favorite Female Character

I liked this character a lot at first, but as the show progressed, I found myself liking her less and less. I liked her with Jim until after the miscarriage, and I loved that she never hesitated to call him on his shit.

While I hated her relationship with Ed, I didn’t like the character to begin with. I never felt like she handled anything and always expected other people to fix her problems. While she’s been through a lot, it’s hard for me to get over a character that never ceases to get on my nerves everytime she appears on my screen.

Despite my dislike of Lee, I do love the actress. She’s incredibly talented and gorgeous. I just don’t care for the character she’s playing.

Gotham 30 Day Challenge: Day 4: Favorite Male Character

This one was close, and my answer probably would’ve been different if you’d asked me before season 4. I’m a huge Ed fan, still, but the decision to put him with Lee as well as the ship wars that followed made Jerome slightly outweigh him in terms of character love.

Jerome’s ruthlessly insane and irreparably broken (even more obviously so after we uncover his backstory) and his storylines in season 4 before his death made the season worth watching. He’s wonderfully complex and steals every single scene he takes part in. Jerome’s overthrow of the GCPD is one of my favorite scenes on any tv show ever, 

I would give anything to have this character back. He’s a phenomenal villain, and my favorite character on the show when all is said and done.
