“Actually, if you’re referring to the monster, you should call him ‘Frankenstein’s Monster’,” Darcy corrected him. “Frankenstein was the doctor.”

Loki closed his eyes for a long moment and sighed. “Listen, you ineffable know-it-all, I made a mistake, obviously I meant Frankenstein’s Monster, not Dr. Frankenstein.”

Darcy wrinkled up her face in a most unflattering way and shook her head. “That’s not what you said, Bunny Bread. And for your information, I am extremely eff-able.”

The earth woman Thor had spoken so highly of was like a silver carving knife on a ceramic plate. She was the ear-splitting screech of humans. She was perched on one of the stools in Dr. Banner’s lab, and not a single person seemed to be as annoyed as Loki was.

Gods, she was magnificent.

“Should I define the word for you, darling?” he asked sweetly, his voice dripping with saccharine..

“It’s called a pun, sweetie-pie,” she retorted, batting her eyelashes. “A play on words? Do you have puns on Asgard? You’ve traveled the entire universe, haven’t you? Don’t tell me there aren’t puns somewhere.”

“There are puns. Excuse me for not recognizing it. I’m used to intelligent, coherent ones.”

“Ha! Got you. There is no such thing as a coherent pun.”

“A likely argument from someone who’s never made a coherent pun in her life,” he shot back.

“Offense, sir. I take pride on my punnery.”

“Get thee to a punnery,” he countered, arching an eyebrow. “Behold. A coherent, yet intelligent pun.”

She scoffed. “Barely.”

“I believe it still counts though.”

“Counts like your face,” she muttered.

Loki laughed aloud. “Could it be that I’ve bested you? The great Darcy Lewis, who bested my own brother in combat?”

“I bested your brother with a gun that shoots electricity. You don’t have to be smart or coherent to wield one of those, Lokes.” It sounded like a threat, and the flash in her eyes certainly felt threatening.

“I never said you weren’t smart,” he reminded her.

“Fine, intelligent.”

“I never said that either.”

“Said what?”

“That you weren’t intelligent.”

She didn’t answer, simply swung her legs on the , and looked intently at her phone.

“Darcy…” he ventured, moving a bit closer. “Darcy? Darling, I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings.”

“That isn’t an apology.”

Loki huffed indignantly. “It is too. I said I was sorry.”

“You said you were sorry if you hurt my feelings. Which puts the labor on me to forgive you, and you can sidestep the bigger issue at hand.”

“Which is?”

“That you called Frankenstein’s monster ‘Frankenstein’ and fucked up royally.” She grinned in a very self-assured way. Loki pressed his lips together and shook his head, all the while, she tittered proudly every so often.

“It was a mistake,” he began.

“Still said it.”

“A slip of the tongue.”

She waggled her eyebrows and winked. “I’ll show you a slip of the tongue.”

He chuckled. “Oh really? Please do.”

“What?” she asked.

“Show me a slip of the tongue, Darcy.”

“Can I embroider that on a pillow?” she asked, hopping up from the stool and making as if she was about to leave. There was no way Loki was allowing her to leave after dropping a flirtatious bomb in the room.  He’d let her do it too many times before not to demand an explanation now.

“Show me a slip of the tongue,” he said.

“Really?” she asked.

“Really.”

“It’s okay if I show you?”

“I’m asking,” he countered.

“Okay. You asked for it.”

“I already insisted that I--” He stopped talking abruptly as Darcy kissed him and thus succeeded in both showing him a slip of the tongue and shutting him up all in one go.

He was wrong before. She wasn’t magnificent, she was exquisite.

Wtf girl? So you post that you are finally writing again the morning I find out I am pregnant again. You do realize both of your last writing droughts ended with my having kids right? You need to find a new source of cosmic writers inspiration, i wasn't planning on having any more kiddos.

Um, thank you? Or, wait, is it your fault I was in that drought? No, that all gets super weird.  lol.

Look, my momma taught me to love baseball and the two important life lessons you get from devoting yourself to a team like the mets. First, "no lead is safe" i have watched them go from 15-0 in the bottom of the 8th and loose. And second it teaches you not to get to dissapointed when you lose but to throw a god damned party if you win. Only Mets fans mock Yankees fans every time they fail to sweep us in a subway series, like come on guys if it aint a sweep you didn't win

LOL. Momma gothfirefaerie knows what it’s about. What other life lessons do you need, really? 1) Never assume anything, and 2) cherish the little victories, and 3) screw the Yankees.

No, screw that. I am a born and raised Brooklyn girl and the Yankees and their fans can go to hell. Mets baby, they suck but damn it they keep ya humble.

It’s spicy out here in Baseball Land today. We all need it back so bad. 

Oh, lol Mets (poor Mets, I hope you get decent new owners soon). But, I have to admit, the Rockies are no great shakes and have mostly wavered between mediocre to laughing-stock with one magical season mixed in. And somehow we were spared the potentially catastrophic outcome of the Rockies’ dumpster fire off-season by a global pandemic. Go figure.
