Meet the World – the road to Gothia Cup
To understand what "Meet the World" means, you need to first understand what the Gothia Cup is. If you haven’t heard of it, picture this: 37,000 young football players descending on Gothenburg, Sweden – to compete for victory against one another. It’s a competitive affair, yet at the same time it allows these young players to learn about different countries and cultures in an immersive way.
If Gothia Cup is the end-goal, "Meet the World” represents the opportunity to get there. It’s a qualifying tournament that doesn’t discriminate. Meet the World is an exercise in inclusivity, regardless of a team's situation. It results in over 20 teams getting to travel and participate in the Gothia Cup.
These qualifying tournaments are played in countries where SKF is present today, with the local SKF units taking care of the tournaments in their respective countries. Since 2006, more than 2 500 players have participated in the event, from over 30 countries.
For the teams that qualify for the Gothia Cup it can be a totally new experience in many ways. For some, it may be the first time many players have been out of the country. For others, sometimes not even their national team has played in Europe.
From the big game atmosphere, to the people met and friendships formed, many players return home with life-long memories and vivid impressions of Meet the World and the Gothia Cup.

För att hjulen ska snurra rejält för handeln och hotellen i Sommargöteborg behövs stora evenemang på Ullevi som drar storpublik, som fjolårets Robin Williams-konsert och supermatchen mellan Real Madrid och Paris Saint-Germain.
