Happy Halloween!!! I had plans for three different dioramas this year, but I didn't have time to finish them all lol. Maybe I'll still do the third one even if it gets shared a little later. :D For now, enjoy the darker side of Barbie with this gothic room. I'd been wanting a gothic Barbie for a while, and the Looks 19 doll looked like a great candidate. She had the pale skin and black hair already, and she didn't have a big grin. She has the tall body, which I was afraid would cause an issue since tall bodies can't wear the same shoes as original ones, but they can share shoes with curvy Barbies. And, as I discovered, both tall and curvy Barbies can also wear true 1/6 scale shoes (as long as they're the hollow versions)! So yay for options!

This diorama began with choosing the proper furniture. I managed to find some amazing laser cut files on Etsy, so I got them and hubby printed them out and assembled them for me. I then painted them black and made cushions for them. Michaels had an awesome gothic collection in its Halloween section, including the cute little glass coffin that actually opens and the little glass coffin cabinet that also opens. Those were my inspiration on top of the Barbie. I found some mini black roses on Amazon and filled the coffin table (which I used as a coffee table) with those and then I placed some random plastic skulls from an old necklace on top of them. The frames were all 3D printed and I found the pictures online and resized them and printed them out. The two in the small oval frames I made myself. I also knew I wanted to have windows with curtains. I used My Froggy Stuff's curtain guide to make some great drapes out of ribbon, and then I made the valance on top with different ribbon. Hubby used AI to create the side table and 3D print it, and then I painted it. The rug is a piece of fabric glued to felt, and the other little goodies are mostly from Michaels. The fireplace is a Gloria one that I repainted. Overall, I'm really pleased with how the room turned out.

I plan to get some more gothic style clothes at some point, but for now I'm happy! I also made the little necklaces she's wearing. I found those tiny charms on Etsy and I used leftover chain I had with spring rings to turn them into necklaces. They're long enough that they can be pulled back into a choker or hang loose like a pendant. I repainted the doll's eyes brown, made her lipstick darker, added a smoky eye effect and gray eyeshadow, and painted her fingernails black to really give off that gothic look. Enjoy!

This was one of those "pff I will get it done in 2 weeks" moments of utter hubris on my part, but alas, my little rendition to Barbie is here~ I fell in love with the classic swimsuit from the 50'/60s and wanted something... "retro-ish" for the vibe 🎶
