Hello everyone, My name is Dani, and I’m 26 years old. I have both POTS, a heart disorder, and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder. I have often felt that a wheelchair would make my life easier, safer and more comfortable, however, I’ve been putting off getting a wheelchair for...
Hey guys, Dani here. My illness issues have significantly affected my ability to do things lately, and with Leakycon coming up this fall, I’m worried that I won’t be able to experience the con the way I really want to. Last year at Geeky, I ended up missing out on a lot of programming because I just didn’t have the energy or was in too much pain to go upstairs and come back downstairs. There’s more info on why getting around is difficult for me at the link, but basically my body is prone to strains and overuse injuries, and the more I do, the more pain and fatigue I end up in. I’m trying not to let this get me down, but it’s hard when I can’t do things I want to be able to do because I’m sick. Every time I go somewhere, I have to weigh the distances I might have to walk and the amount of activity I’ll need to do with whether it’s going to be too much. I miss out on things like going out for the day with friends, because it’s too hard for me to get around. This chair would give me back a lot of the ability to be out and about and doing all the things I’ve done at the con and elsewhere. If you’re at all able to donate, I would massively appreciate it. Any amount helps. If you can’t donate, please share, the more people that know, the more likely it is we’ll be able to make this work. I’m over half way to my goal currently, we just need a bit more help to make this a reality.
