“...Of course. It’s no trouble at all.” Kyrene replied softly after a pause. Camilla was being hesitant and--if memory served--the wyvern pens were where she felt the safest. She was worried. Perhaps even scared.
She only had to give the briefest push through the contract’s connection to Lyth to pass along the Queen’s message. ‘Come home, Moonscales. Cammy needs your advice. I’m with her at the moment.’
“Would you like me to wait here with you?”
It had all become so unbearably noisy. Even this far from where the humans gathered, they could still hear the constant ringing and hum. The very air sang with an unnatural vibration and the tang of electricity that rang across the invisible space tickled their tongue. How long had they been ‘asleep’?
The world they had awoken in was not the same they had fallen asleep within. The cities were filled with far more cars, the air thick with chemicals that burned their lungs. That demon. That damnable demon and boy... And after that they remembered nothing. The first sound afterwards had come as an insistent pounding and tearing, and it was not until they had heard the screams of shock when they had broken the stone from their wing that they even noticed the mortals around them.
It did not give them pride to recall how they had fled then with the adrenaline of a fight that seemed only just concluded still in their veins, and confusion and fear --unwelcome and unnatural emotion that it was--pounding in their head. Their wounds had healed in whatever space of time they had waited, but they felt them still, and it left them raw and skittish.
So it was that they had sought quiet along the coastal cliffs to the North. So great however was the distraction of the vibrating air that they failed to notice they were being watched.

“Hm? Oh damn I said that out loud, didn’t I?”
There was a momentary look of embarrassment that crossed his face before he cleared his throat and put his head back on right. At times his thoughts slipped out especially when thinking back to his formative years. But the woman had heard him and it would be rude to not answer her.
Besides what use was there in seeming like one of those brooding types who could not let go of the past?
“Oh I haven’t thought that for years, miss. Just a little...passing thought on how far I’ve come. I’d be in a sad state thinking such things at my age!”

It wasn’t often that beings of significance made themselves known in her territory. The ruined capital beneath was a common place for new arrivals, but they were often just the younger races - humans and the like. Few entered her castle, but those that did so caught her interest for better or worse. Lifting her head, she greeted her guest.
“I cannot say I was expecting anyone. Do excuse the mess, this place was left untended for far too long. Have you business with me, or were you simply another curious soul?”
“A bird, hm? Little crow lost?”
No response. Just a proud little bird, all fluffed up. She’s found a friend! Surely this is a good day!

“Daaad. You don’t need to ask me that when I’m just about to eat dinner.” She appreciated his concern, but asking a dragoness who baked for a living if she wasn’t eating enough was sorta dumb.
“I just wanted to make sure you weren’t getting too consumed in your work! Pun not intended--”
He almost couldn’t help himself, when he got halfway through that sentence and realized he’d accidentally made a joke.
“Seriously though! You can’t blame your old man for fretting... it feels like just yesterday you still lived in the second circle, after all.”

“Shouldn’t it be the other way around?? You’ve protected me from so much… it’s only fair I try to do the same for you!” She sighs, “I don’t want you to worry about me, dad… It’s gonna be okay.”
“I am an ethereal being by nature. There are very few things I need protection from.”
He stated matter-of-factly. Lyth was strong, of course, but what few threats Aamon usually faced were less physical and more paracasual. Lyth wasn’t equipped to face such foes, yet.
“I’m you father, it’s in my nature to worry. Especially when my still-mortal daughter goes around fighting Gods.” Aamon grumbled to himself. Lyth sure knew how to get into trouble. “I’ve sworn myself against interfering in other realms too directly, Lyth. I hate these Gods of yours as much as you do... but I can’t be some moral arbiter of the multiverse. I want to protect you, but it’s against my code to... so I worry!”

oh boy i feel like i have a SUPER unpopular one…
All those little banners beneath aesthetic or stim-posts that say stuff like “do not interact x, y, z” ?
I agree with those sentiments on 99.9% of those posts. The people usually called out by those banners are garbage people.
However, those garbage people are just gonna delete your caption because they don’t agree with you. Meanwhile, your intended audience (people who aren’t trash) are just gonna have an ugly as sin banner to deal with beneath the very pretty aesthetic, which kind of ruins the aesthetic?
Maybe there’s a reason this practice is as widespread as it is, and if people can explain why those banners exist in a practical sense, I would be interested to know
