S Kitchen Redefines the Buffet Dining Experience With Gourmet Weekends
There are plenty of buffet and all-you-can-eat venues all around the city, from simple samgyupsal barbecues to grand luxurious hotel restaurants. Everyone is now ready and eager to go back to their favorite dining establishments, but one place stands out for offering both the excitement and freshness of a dampa/paluto market plus the allure of an elegant five-star hotel buffet restaurant. Sheraton Manila is totally redefining our buffet dining experience with their Gourmet Weekends at S Kitchen.
Sheraton Manila Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant S Kitchen is making gourmet dining available in a buffet set-up with their Gourmet Weekends. Located within the Resorts World Manila entertainment complex, guests can catch S Kitchen’s Gourmet Weekends every Friday and Saturday from 6:00pm to 10:00pm for P3200 nett per person. The Hungry Kat was invited one Saturday evening to try this premium weekend buffet and it was truly a wonderful night filled with gourmet delicacies and excellent seafood that makes it one of the best buffet offers in the city.
This upgraded weekend dinner buffet offers a vast array of seafood like sustainable shrimps and mussels, live crabs, and freshly-caught pompano together with foie gras, oysters, premium steak and meat cuts which are cooked à la minute according to your preference.
With sleek interiors, high ceilings, and full-length glass windows facing the NAIA Terminal 3, S Kitchen makes casual dining a luxury in this busy and hectic part of the city. Here you can savour all-time favorite global dishes and elevated Filipino cuisine using the finest local produce and traditional techniques.
Sheraton Manila Executive Chef Kiko Santiago is one of the only Filipinos to head a five-star international hotel brand. S Kitchen was included as one of the best buffet restaurants in Tatler Dining Awards 2022 but Chef Kiko takes it one step further by including fine-dining dishes into their buffet setup with Gourmet Weekends.
You can start your gourmet adventure with some healthy salads. S Kitchen partnered with Aba Pardes, an Agritech corporation that transforms traditional agriculture into sustainable produce, for the Hydroponic Salad Station where diners can enjoy a variety of fresh leafy greens from the buffet counter to their table.
Right beside it is the Japanese Station which offers fresh salmon and tuna sashimi together with a variety of sushi and maki.
One of the highlights of the Gourmet Weekends at S Kitchen is the Foie Gras Station. The weekend offer comes with unlimited access to the rich, buttery, and delicate duck liver or foie gras which usually commands a high price and can only be found in expensive fine-dining restaurants. Here, you can get as much as you want of this exquisite delicacy.
S Kitchen is one of the only buffet restaurants that offer a live Dampa or Paluto section where guests can get their favorite seafood from the “market” and then bring them over to the cooking stations to be prepared according to their preference.
A dampa is a wet seafood market that is usually connected to a cooking and dining area where buyers can enjoy their seafood purchases right after buying them. At S Kitchen, you don’t have to haggle with the market vendors or wade through the wet floors because everything is easily laid out for the guests to take.
You can grab a live mud crab or two from the barrel and send it over to the cooking station. You can be absolutely sure that these are fresh because they are all still moving!
There are many ways to cook your chosen seafood. This is the Sweet Chili Crab which is similar to the Singaporean style of cooking but not as spicy. You can also have your crab or fish steamed, fried, cooked in butter garlic, soy sauce, or any other way you like.
For the squid, these are often grilled but I also suggest that you ask for them to be cooked into crunchy Calamares.
On top of the many exciting dishes at the S Kitchen Gourmet Weekends, diners can also enjoy different varieties of oysters - whether freshly shucked, baked, or as Oysters Rockefeller. These will have an additional charge per order but they are really worth it.
There are many other sections to explore here including the Bulalohan Station. You can an order locally sourced fall-off-the-bone bulalo with its delectable bone marrow and watch how the servers assemble all of the ingredients. They also offer Philippine native chicken as well as Sinanpalukan.
Fans of IKEA will enjoy the Swedish Meatballs which taste almost the same as the ones in the popular international furniture store. Best of all, you don’t have to wait in line for these. There’s also the Pot Roast with Apple Sauce which really looks tempting.
There’s actually a lively fiesta atmosphere at S Kitchen with guests roaming around getting their favorite items from the different cooking stations. You can find the Cebuchon here at the grilling station, together with various local skewers like isaw and chicken barbecue.
The highlight of the S Kitchen Gourmet Weekends is arguable the steak and meat section where you can choose your favorite premium steak cuts and other juicy meats.
There’s US Beef Top Sirloin, Chuck Eye, Short Plate, Spanish Pork Loin, Pork Collar, Pork Belly, Australian Lamb Rib, Lamb Kebab and Lamb Kofta. You can order as many slices as you like according to your preferred doneness and the server will deliver the cooked meats to your table.
It was a carnivore’s dream come true with all these premium and expensive cuts that are usually only served as a la carte orders in fine-dining restaurants. S Kitchen Gourmet Weekends makes it possible for food lovers to enjoy all these exquisite items in a buffet setup.
Beverages are also included in the buffet price with free-flowing juices and sodas that you can order from the waiters. Aside from these, they also have a selection of classic cocktails and mocktails made on the spot by the roving bartender.
Cap off your gourmet weekend with a trip to the Dessert Station. There are many sweet items on display including cakes, pastries, cookies, candies, brownies, a halo halo station, unlimited ice cream, and an overflowing chocolate fountain.
The Crepe Station also offers a sweet treat for everyone. Ask the server to prepare a fresh crepe with your choice of apple, strawberry, blueberry, mango, peach, or banana compote topped with whipped cream and an extra scoop of ice cream.
The Gourmet Weekends at S Kitchen is a fantastic adventure that will surely satisfy all its hungry guests. The dampa and paluto section is definitely a unique feature but the foie gras and steaks are surely what will keep us coming back for more. Make sure to reserve your seats for dinner this weekend because it will surely be another full house.
