August Fanon & billy woods - House in the Woods
Fanon's take on "Golliwog" is far more clearer than this year's earlier cut, making Woods' narrative more coherent and cohesive. The accompanying film helps as well too to fully understand the unique narrative Woods has on his take on existentialism, specifically from the viewpoint of a puppet. The fear of that, the fight to break from the herd and the acceptance of the hypocrises that make even the most englightened understand that "freedom" either is missing an "o" or should be spelled with "dumb" as it's suffix.
The guest features are expanded with Weatherman legend Aesop Rock and Fatboi Sharif, not losing it's story as some albums often do when they are reloaded with an updated version.
Many industry gatekeepers could learn a thing or two from this release and the substance Backwoodz has been bringing to Hip-Hop this year as a whole.
