Pokémon Sun and Moon GPAO retake: What can we expect of Alola?
MY DIAMOND HARBOR HYPE IS BACK!!!
Sorry... Still a bit stir crazy... First off, this post will contain spoilers about the new information released on the upcoming Pokémon games, so if you wish to remain free from spoilers, than please steer clear of this post.
With that out of the way, let's break down what we got here for today shall we? And just note that this post will only be covering the region, not the entire information. I will make posts about those later, but for now let's just try to cut this post down to the amount of time you have on your lunch break.
Ladies and Gentlemen, say Aloha to the Alola Region... Which I'm not going to actually put up on here because you have hands that you can check the image with... And I don't know if I can get sued for copyright...
Anyways, there seems to be a conditions theme going on with the islands of this region, but I must regret that unfortunately, it seems like the Soaring Mechanic will have to face the same punishment as all other regions before it... Unless this isn't actually all we get. I mean, after the success of the Mirage Spots, do you really think Nintendo are going to let them go? I don't!
Sorry, the conditions of the islands seem to circle around a theme of types, and I'll be covering what types right now.
On the far left, we seem to have a more Arid Flatland vibe to it, which makes me extremely excited to see how Rock and Ground Type Pokémon of the Alola Region act and appear. Though the island seems quite plain of a plane, it may just be the camera position and instead be a mountainous island instead, where as I guess we will be evolving Pokémon like Magneton and Nosepass there.
Along side that whatever area, we also seem to have a large tree in the back above some sort of chasm, a bit of a steam geyser, and a large Triangular Slab with a small white building on it. This makes me believe that this Island will be the equivalent of Victory Road and the Pokémon League of the Alola region.
There also seems to be a small island off the side of it that gives me the feeling that the games will actually allow people to surf across the entire region at some point, but I sincerely hope that small island will be where we can find our third of the Trio, presumably after obtaining both Solgaleo and Lunala into the same game.
Second to the left, we seem to have the Starting Island which still doesn't seem to have any Pearl Harbor inspired area on it... Anyways, this island is likely where we obviously run into the usual victims; The Rodent, the Bird and the WTFIT, yes I made up that last category... So what? Hmmm... But wait... Is there something in the clouds back behind it? NAH... Probably just... you know... shading from the cloud... Still, I would not put it past the mad punks to do something like that.
Aside from that little bit of crazy, I think it's obvious that we can expect a single Gym specializing in Ground Types, but it might instead be a Grass type Gym... Who knows. Heck, they may just make the gym the way they made the Striaton Gym, with a pair of Triplets (yes, that is actually proper grammar) being the Gym Leaders, but you have to fight each of them instead of one based on which starter you pick, which would be awesome. I always liked that gym because it was different by having more than one type in a single gym.
Following the line, we have... ooo... a Volcano next to one of those water pools, with what seems to be a forested area in the lower part? Hmmm... Could it be possible that we are looking at a harmony eco system on this Island? Since the Water Pools seem to love the heck out of their waterfalls, I can guess that it will also have an interesting secret to it, like maybe holding a secret item that is needed to help in your quest.
If we don't have a new version of the Striaton Gym on the Starting Island, than this is likely where we actually find the three Gym Leaders of Fire, Water and Grass. This is still only a theory, because we have no real information about the types of each Gym or even who will lead them, but when there's a building that seems to lead into a Volcano, you know that we have ourselves a Fire Gym there at the least.
We can also see back behind the island that there's a much smaller one with a single Palm Tree that in my opinion looks like one of the Mirage Islands from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This leads me to believe that we actually might have a multi region game, but there's nothing actually saying that the island is the same one. It may just be an Event Island where an Event Legendary Pokémon may be found, like Darkrai on New Moon Island.
Finally, we have our furthest island to the right. This island seems to feature a Snowy Mountain, a Desert, an eerie forest, a gated off community and a... Wait a second... Is that... A Harbor? A harbor much bigger than the harbors of the other islands? Could it be?? COULD IT REALLY BE??? It has to be! I'd bet my Shiny Talonflame on it.
Anyways, you can see on this island that is seems to follow a strict path around it, the first being Diamond Harbor (MY HYPE BONER IS SO FREAKING REAL RIGHT NOW!!!), going around the mountain to reach an area with a pretty big love of security (Thus the gated off community joke), the eerie forest that for some reason seems to have a lake with three access points, so I assume the location of the main Legendary Pokémon so the community would probably be the home of the bad guys of the region, the obligatory surfing area that gets you to the next area and is likely where you will find the Super Rod, a large white building that will likely be a gym, a small fishing town that will likely be the location of this games Magikarp Scammer, what either seems to be a travel car or a very very very long stair well (here's hoping that all have been working on your cardio) that leads to the Ice mountains summit which I think we can see has a Pokémon Center on it and seems to lead to what I can only assume is where the Ice Type Gym will be located, a small town with probably some big secret about the Legendary Pokémon of Alola, a huge craggy area that leads finally into the desert that may also lead back fully around to Diamond Harbor... Run on sentence of the year ladies and gentlemen...
I wanted to bring this following bit up around the middle of the explanation, but it was so out of place, that I decided that it would be better to end the section with it. What I am talking about is the large metal island that seems to be at the center of everything and is likely home to a Steel Type Gym.
... That or it could be the actual location of the Baddies, but then again so could the volcano, or the crater, or the big tree! Who cares?!? It's just a big metal island in the middle of the region! That's all we know until they actually say that it's got some reason... Huh... Actually, I have another theory, but we'll cover that one later when I cover the Pokémon info revealed.
Alright, well that's all the time I have to spend on this right now. I do actually have work that I need to do, but maybe I missed a few things that working will help put right into my brain while I'm away from my computer.
Again, this is only the first part of my personal breakdown of the new information released earlier today, so if you liked this post, or have any questions about it, than please let me know. I always like to hear from people so I can get a critique, so I'd really appreciate it.
Please have a good rest of your day and I will be back to cover more of the reveal in a while. Aloha.
Pokémon Sun and Moon GPaO Update: Idea busted X 2 and Folk Rock Deja Vu?
Okay, so first off, GPaO means Gypsy Predictions and Opinions, and is in fact relating to my new... series-ish thing... where I test my powers of precognition and my Gypsy heritage, but that's not very important...
What is important is that Sun and Moon finally have some decent data behind them now to show what it's going to be like.
Let's go over some of the things that we noticed in the games at this point...
First off, note that if you want to be spoiler free for your Sun and Moon experience, than why are you reading this?!? Go... You heard me. Get! We don't want to spoil anyone that doesn't want to be...
Anyways, there's not all that much to say about the games matching to my GPaO as of yet, but I can say that two of my Opinions were debunked... well... 1 and 1/2 really...
First off is the Legendries. When I said that Ansol and Devilun were placeholder Pokémon, that was it. They were not Pokémon that I seriously thought would be on the covers... But seriously, I know which version I myself am getting. The one with the Freaky Skeleton Bat thing on it... though it's signature attack does look a lot like Oblivion Wing... It's just a beam of light... which makes me wonder, why is a Bat Pokémon with skellebits signature attack not something to do with it's bones?
Let's call this attack... I don't know... Lunar Beam, since it is apparently the rep of Moon. With this, we can make some prediction about what the Legend of Sun, who is a Kangaskhan-loving Lion that will probably be another Fire Type, I'd like to wager that it's Signature Attack has to do with Close Range Combat, so let's assume it's to be called Lions Barrage (I know that's referencing something, but for the life of me, I can't remember what...)
Second (again, -ish) is the Starters. If you go back a few GPaO, than you'll see that I had so much hope that each Starter would have one type stronger than each of the other two upon final stage, but unless they want to make Rowlet's (Grass Starter) Hidden Ability Trick Type, than I don't think this is going to happen. Why?
Because that would make 4 Fire/Fighting Types... I mean, just look at Litten (Fire Starter)... Does it look like a Bug or Grass Type? No. I mean, it's got spikes on it's back when it attacks, so I guess Rock could technically work, but most likely given it's colors and shape, I have two ideas about what it's type could be.
First is a Fire/Dark Dual, and it certainly has been a fan favorite type since Houndour's line was revealed, and this really makes me giggle a bit thinking about how they have 3 Fire/Fighting, then a Fire/Psychic, and now they might have a Fire/Dark. That's awesome.
Second idea about Litten is that it might actually be a Fire/Poison Type, but more on that after I bring up the other two Starters Type possibility.
Let's go into the Water Starter, Popplio, which I think is pretty obviously supposed to be based on Circus Seals. Now it may not be a Dolphin like people wanted to see, but I can totally see a Water/Psychic Typing for this little guy... Unless they decide to have it be yet another Water/Ice Seal based Pokémon, but again Circus Seal so kind of a saving grace.
Another Typing idea that could possibly work for it is Water/Fairy, since Fairy is still one of the latest things, Nintendo probably wants to keep people into the idea, and the Circus does give many people an ere of awe and magical wonder, so yeah... Potential Water/Fairy Seal Pokémon.
Finally is Rowlet, who is again the Grass Starter... and what could I say besides it's an Owl... Not that I feel we have to many owl Pokémon. We certainly have more Seal and Cat based Pokémon, with I actually think one in each generation...
Anyways, Rowlet is most likely going to have the Grass/Flying type, and I'm cool with that... but it might now be chill with the idea...
Those were Ice puns if you couldn't get it...
Anyways and more ways, I do love how Rowlet's appearance makes it look like it has a little Bowtie, and I'd love to see it go from a little shy owl with a weak voice to a loud and proud singing one. It's awesome when Pokémon and Game Freak make such interesting choices on the appearance of their Pokémon, but...
Now back to the Fire/Poison Type thing... Litten's spikes to me seems... I don't knw... a bit liquid to be honest... So, if Litten's evolution line does become Fire/Poison, than it will be a weird sort of experience now won't it?
Well anyways, that's all for the things I noticed in the most recent Sun and Moon trailer... Huh... I'm missing something? From the previous Trailer?
Are you talking about the Wire Frame Bird Pokémon? Give it up dudes... and -etts... It's just the new regional Bird Pokémon... What, do you think it's going to be the evolved form of Rowlet? I don't, but I am curious as to what all of you think about these new Pokémon. Rowlet, Litten and Popplio that is. Any thing I missed or that you wanted to tell me I got wrong? I would really appreciate being informed on my mistakes. Criticism is needed to keep us from doing extremely stupid things.
...
Oh right, and about that Deja Vu thing in the title, the joke was Litten being a Starter in Sun and Moon made me think of the Folk Rock song Cat's in the Cradle... Which now that I think about it is a song my granddad doesn't seem to like... Weird how that turns out... Look up the song... it's pretty good. It's by Harry Chapin...
