Who’s ready to hear my groundbreaking Heavy Rain au in the year of our Lord 2020?

So the whole game is obviously leading up to some big reveal of the Origami Killer’s identity, right? I crossed Ethan off the list pretty quickly because the “clues” were too heavy-handed for it to actually be him. It also couldn’t have been Gordi Kramer (what a creep) so I assumed it would be someone random.

But during the scene with Ann Sheppard, I had a thought: what if John’s twin wasn’t a boy? Ann kept saying “I only have one son.” Because of her memory and denial, of course, but I thought it would be interesting if the reveal was that John had actually had a fraternal twin sister.

My first jump was Madison — how crazy would it be if we had been playing as the killer? (*sigh*) And the twistedness of her befriending Ethan would’ve been so evilly satisfying. But that just didn’t really match up, and I got a better idea instead...

Grace Mars, Ethan’s (ex-)wife and mother of Jason and Shaun, is the Origami Killer. When her oldest son is killed in front of her, memories of watching her twin drown as a child drive her to murder. Her husband, just like her father, didn’t save the little boy they were meant to protect.

Grace would have the motive to frame Ethan and put him through the trials to prove he would save his second son. I think that reveal would’ve been so interesting, especially as a twist from the son/daughter perspective. Plus, wow? A female character with actual character traits??? Incredible.
