@grace52373 Well, look who’s on an archive binge *g* I’ll just reply to all of your comments in this one post, to try and avoid a confusing multi-thread.

re “You can call them bad writers.“ I could, but I try to be careful about putting value judgments on a person’s skill when all I have is the finished product. And they’ve written a lot of good stuff that I enjoyed immensely (see later about Wonderland). I do think they’re much better at short fiction than long-form plotting, as it were. I definitely would call a lot of this arc “bad writing”. ...I’m actually pretty sure I did. I don’t mind my faves being terrible people (OK, I do mind, but not much), but I like to see them get there in a believable fashion.
on “Tougher than the Rest”
Right? I mean, I can understand that their first priority would be to save Emma’s life, because, well, she’s the one they’re closest to. But if a woman who you’ve been protecting until an episode ago comes to you and basically begs to help her save her son, and your only reaction is “eh, doesn’t seem worth the trouble” then what the actual hell is wrong with you, I ask? And while Charming wasn’t around for the whole baby-disaster, I still expected some more empathy from him. I mean, must be hard to lose your child, only to meet them again as an adult while you haven’t aged a day, but there’s no way David could ever imagine such a situation, right?
...please excuse my sarcasm, it seems to have gotten away from me.
on “Ill-Boding Patterns”
I found this flashback particularly interesting, because we’ve seen Rumple shortly after this incident, and we know his moral compass is so messed up at this point, it’s basically just spinning in a circle. Metaphorically speaking. But he clearly still remembers his good intentions, and goes through with them.
I also wonder if some of his more extreme measures in protecting Bae can retroactively be seen as overreactions to this event.
on “And They Lived...”
Yeah, poor Jabberwock didn’t deserve that. So what if she’s a terrifying nightmare monster who kills people with their darkest fears? It’s not like she does it for fun or anything, and her greatest wish was, basically, to be able to stop doing it. Give the woman a chance, damnit!
And I’ve had both of those reccommended to me in the past, and... the size might be a bit intimidating. I probably could read each of those in a week, but I’d have to commit to that first, and I’m... kiiiiind of dragging my feet ::cough:: But thanks for the rec, in any case! Both of those seem like Extremely My Shit, as the youths apparently say these days *g*
Hi! My birthday is May 23rd and I just found out about this blog so I am submitting mine. My one and only blog is grace52373
Another one today! *Adds to list and rummages in the Birthday Chest* For you, we have this lovely sparkly tiara to wear for the day, which allows you to demand tribute from your subjects. Happy birthday!
It’s OK, don’t worry. Like I said, I did have content warnings. Still got a nasty surprise, but that was just bad luck.
Mind you, it’s hard to fault Robin for not reaching the “my wife has been replaced by a murderous shapeshifter” conclusion on his own. It’s probably higher in the Top 50 Reasons My Spouse Is Being Weird for people from the Enchanted Forest than it would be for someone from our world, but still a pretty far reach. And like the flashback showed, his sense of honour is this one central characteristic that he’s built his entire sense of self around. He feels like he failed Marian once already, and without a damn good reason, he’s not going to abandon her.
Poor sod.

OK, that’s weird. It works on my browser (shockingly), and I definitely don’t have you blocked or anything. (Obviously, since you reblogged from me, but I still double-checked, because I’m paranoid about these things *g*) Anyone else have this problem?
Honestly, I’m not even sure if it was Hook who ruined that particular relationship. (At least not directly). The real problem seems to be that the writers spent more and more time isolating Rumple (and, by extension, Belle) from the rest of the main cast, until he barely interacted with any of them, save for a few scenes where they asked him for help. (Well, I say “asked for”, because I’m a nice person, mostly) Considering how interconnected he was originally with everyones storylines, that writing decision did nobody any favours, I think.

I am happy your watching OUATIW and enjoying it! I...
Thank you! I am enjoying the ride a whole lot *g*
Honestly, I never thought Will was much of an anything in s4 -- not even a jackass. Maybe slightly snarky, but on this show, who isn’t. He was just a baffling addition to the cast that did nothing, influenced nothing, and disappeared without a trace. I’m really glad I’m getting to know him better, because he’s an amazing character when given the chance.
