The streets of Jerusalem were the "social media" of the time. Today we celebrate the people in the streets singing, cheering, and dropping palm leaves along Jesus's path. But the crowded street's chants change fast in just 5 days those same crowded streets shout crusify him. Maybe it is because they did not want to change the way they lived even though it is the right thing to do? Maybe this year that lesson can really ring true. Should we look upon this historical story as a guide to our life now? Maybe we need to change our life style, not because the political leaders say we have to, but because it is the right thing to do? Maybe we should do our part to limit travel, not gather in large groups, not hoard necessities, and not let our perception change as quickly as it did in the streets of Jerusalem? Today during my 5.5 mile run I made a point to run a trail through palm trees and other growth. I really tried to focus on our current state of living and what messages am I needing to learn. My thoughts could be wrong, they could be right, but I know reflecting with grace and understanding on my mind is always the right thing to do! Happy Palm Sunday! Please use today to feel refreshed and think to prepare for the rest of Holy week.
