Totally feeling you on the whole Eleventh Doctor wasn't written to his full capacity. He coulda had it all. Oh dear haha
I'm so sad Matt bowed out before Moffat... Cause those really well written scenes.. Matt killed them. He's a brilliant actor who just needed a good writer to be so memorable. And instead he got stuck in a mess of Moffat convoluted plots that make sense for no one...
This last episode... It should've been all like that last scene with Amy and the Doctor. It should've been like Nine and Rose. It should've been an emotional journey of all that Matt as accomplished as the Doctor. And instead we got 50 minutes of pretty explosions and Moffat showing off by god ex machining his whole story since the start and telling us it was all interconnected and he's brilliant and keeps on rewriting canon as it suits him.
I was SO mad that he bs-ed some excuse to deal with the whole 12 regenerations thing. Because I really wanted that to be a beautiful Doctor Who moment, like with 5th and his final words “I might regenerate. I don’t know. Feels different this time… Adric?” and instead we got Clara being ultimately useless and only capable of begging the Time Lords to help the Doctor instead of letting her actually save the day like companions always do.
But the thing is that when Matt Smith was good and given a simple, meaningful plot, he was really good. "Vincent and the Doctor", "The Doctor's Wife", "The Beast Below", "The God Complex", "The Rings of Akhaten", "A Town Called Mercy", the final Amy x Doctor scene in "The Time of the Doctor". When he's good, he's REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD! And he deserved more chances to shine like that. He deserved so much better to work with than what he got under Moffat's reign...
And RTD had his issues near the end of his run, but Moffat... Ugh, Moffat. I need him to leave if I want to ever enjoy Doctor Who again and it doesn't feel like that'll happen in the near future =/
