How it all began ... #GraceWorldSing
What if ...
What if …
What if. The words of dreamers and visionaries. The words of children and the elderly, the middle-aged and the teen-aged. The words of the hopeful and the optimist, the lonely and the searching, the troubled, the wise, the inner child, the extrovert, the broken and the brave. Words every person has thought or uttered at some point.
What if …
What if. Not to be confused with if only. That’s regret talking. And it’s true, what if can be spoken in a spiteful or vicious way, or even by a back-talking child. But we’re not talking about regret or spite or tantrums here. We’re talking about hope. What if are the words of hope.
What if we do things differently? What if I tell the truth instead of saving face. What if I stop to help instead of driving by? What if I praise instead of criticize, mend instead of rend? What if I keep it to myself? What if I say it? What if I change my outlook? What if I change my life? What if I listen to that still small voice instead of drowning it out? What if it tells me to do something outside my comfort zone? What if it tells me to do something too big for me to accomplish on my own? What if I do it?
What if … The words of someone who is about to change direction, to take a leap of faith.
What if the whole world sings Amazing Grace together …
“What! I can’t do that. It’s too huge!”
I argued. I questioned. I cried. I listened. I absorbed. I accepted.
What if the whole world sings Amazing Grace together!
That’s my what if. What’s yours? You’ll know your what if when you hear it. You can’t escape it. Oh, you’ll try, and you may be successful for a while. It may not always be in the forefront of your mind, but it will be ever in your heart. It is a seed planted, watered and nourished without you even being aware. It may come back to you as a loud flash or a tiny whisper, depending on how deeply you’ve buried it. When you finally pay attention or pause to listen and think about it, you’ll know. You’ll know you’ve been prepared for this your whole life. You’ll see the bits and pieces fall together like pixels on your screen after a satellite glitch. You may have an aha moment. You may have several. And then, without a complete understanding of why or even how, you’ll start on your what if journey.
Make no mistake. This journey will not be easy. It will be filled with obstacles and barriers and multiple versions of “you can’t do that!” Some of these obstacles will be right in your face, some will sneak up from behind, and some will come from inside your own head. You will be so excited to share your what if with someone only to hear a “but” in response. Never fear! If this is your true calling, what if will not let you back down. Not for long anyway. What if will not compromise. It will not take no for an answer nor will it let you off the hook.
What if is the truest desire of your heart. It’s got your back, it’s fighting for you, it’s unstoppable.
What if is on the autobahn and the pedal is to the floor. Hold on!
Where will your what if journey take you?
Grace World Sing is my what if journey. (See how it all began ...)
I invite you to join me on this road trip. Warning: it may be a crazy ride!
