Most autistic girl/linguistics grad student thing I have ever texted anyone:
And if that weren't autistic enough on its own, this is me being cautiously flirty (i.e. I'm not going to outright flirt with him but if he doesn't fall slightly in love with me because this is The Way I Am then it's not going to work anyway)

good morning everyone ! ! ☆
finals week is here, so im posting an older pic… but yesterday i saw the prettiest rainbow and i couldn’t not share it
yesterday was really heavy for me, but seeing that at the end of the day felt like a quiet reminder that things pass 🌈
that’s it, we keep showing up for ourselves, everyday. 💫👩🏻💻☕️🔂
Y'all any advice for applying for a PhD in STEM at Europe/UK/Australia?
The PhD application cycle has begun, with quite a few institutes opening their application portals for next year. There's clear instructions on stuff like What they want, SOPs, Reco letters, and other documents.
But what about stuff like reaching out to potential supervisors? what stuff should I be asking them when I write an email introducing myself?
There's one particular research lab I wanna apply to, but their institute has a portal open for applications, they have projects listed (very exciting. I might have relevant background), and they even tell what experience is mandatory and what experience they expect. With everything clearly presented idk if I should even email them at this point and just directly apply.
Please drop any and all advice you have or you wished you had before you went through the whole application business. No advice is unsolicited here thanx

academic advisors love suggesting thing that are related to your field that you have no interest in. "have you thought about biopolitics?" yes, and i've decided that's outside my scope. "there's some really interesting utopian theory on this." if you say the word "utopia" again anywhere in my hearing, i will stab you. "you know, this is related to ecocriticism, you could do something interesting there." i don't care about the planet, please fuck off.
