Love my career path. Love my choice of major. Hate my professors. I’m going to graduate out of spite. Keep trying to hold me down, I’m still getting A’s and B’s

We’re having a blizzard and that means I can’t go to the lab. And even if I could, the school issued a full parking ban. Please stay strong my stem cells!! I’m sorry you’ll be without fresh food for 2 days. Don’t spontaneously differentiate on me.
I posted this pic of the stem cells (iPSC) I’m working with on my social media and legit got only 4 likes from other cell biologist friends. I’m like... seriously??? THEY’RE STEM CELLS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. They’re the coolest things ever. Hahah. Guess not everyone agrees.
No but like why don’t all the graduate student unions for each school unite to form one very large graduate student union and go to congress demanding better wages and hours
I realized that when I teach people cell culture I’m like “this is the way you should do it... but this is what we do” and I just realized that probably confuses the hell out of them lol
Grad school rant:
So today my advisor told me that the lab she used to be a post doc in is working on a project idea that she had come up with when she was there. That project is the exact project I’m working on now. So she said we need to get this project done ASAP to beat the other lab to the results. I do not feel okay about this.
After seeing a million unhelpful error messages like this one, my terrible SRA to fastq to BAM to GTF to txt to csv to R Deseq2 differential gene expression and principal components analysis pipeline, and one 2000 word essay on the raw data, said pipeline, and data analysis are finally done. All I have left to do is make a github repository!
The only retail therapy I get these days is maxing out the lab’s credit card.
