Grad assist reflection
Overall, i think i did really well with this brief, i had a lot of fun helping everyone out and getting to make and sew all the parts for their films, it brought me a sense of nostalgia.
It didnt really give me a sense of group work but rather duo work, i helped out 4 separate individuals and we all were co existing and working on separate parts. It did however give me a sense of how much pre planning and preparation is necessary for stop motion projects in third year and has opened my eyes to the fact that the amount of time is restricted, so I’ll probably start my project this summer to make up for time and not have to cut big chunks out of my films
Heres a progression of the police officer doll
After discussing with my graduate, the body was made more fat using bandages and stitches. After measuring out the new proportions, i pinned and stitched up his body suit, making sure that its form fitting. Before form fitting it the fabric appeared stiff and made the body shape look like a bell.
My work in progress for Zalika’s stop motion film
I was in charge of sewing clothes and making the body for two separate characters. For this character, my goal was to make him look shifty and mysterious, so i used earth tones for the fabric to make it appear worn and grimy.I stitched up the pants and added a bunch of patches, textures, buttons and the collar to the already provided coat my graduate made.
The hat was probably the hardest part to make because the card that i used to stiffen the hat was way to thick and it took forever to fold and mend into place
This is the final colouring i have done for Liz’s animation!
I was in charge of making sure the pallete fits and that the colours dont bleed out of the linework
Prop making for Agata’s film
After discussing with her the size preference and the number of grave stones she needs for the film shots, i printed and cut them all out and painted them accordingly to fit the style of her film
Some quick close ups of the stop motion puppet and clothes I stitched up for Anna Maria’s film
Both me and my graduate are happy with the end result, the seams could have been a bit cleaner in my opinion but the seams for the clothes came out clean enough that they look even on camera so thats good enough for both me and Anna
