— The Eleventh Hour, Graeme Base
Gazing at this picture as a kid, I wanted so badly to eat the feast. It's one of those cases (studio ghibli films being another) where the illustration of food looks even better than the real thing.
A favorite book of Saan's is Animalia by Graeme Base. She is unsure when/where/how she got it, but it's beautiful and read a lot by her and Calyx. It was a nice bonding experience, especially as Calyx grew and could appreciate tinier details.

Why I (mun) chose this book.
This is the page for the letter D
"Diabolical Dragons daintily devouring delicious delicacies", which has two dragons doing just that, with all sorts of objects and items that start with the letter D.
But look! In the window of this scene.
[From this reddit post]
Yes. D is for DALEK. (also the Doctor (Tom Baker/4th I am guessing?) and a Donkey...AND DROWNING???)
Today my support worker helped me (and Pabu) go to BeinArt Gallery to see The Hidden World of Graeme Base exhibition.
It was really cool to see not only Base's art but also a lot of local artists' aswell! I am hoping to go back for the Shaun Tan exhibition in May (some of his paintings were already up but I'd love to see more!).
I highly recommend this gallery, it's free entry and I spent two hours there easily just looking at art~✨️
How the Wammy kids solved The Eleventh Hour
Near: Saw that the first word in the cryptogram is "congratulations"
Mello: Brute-forced it Matt: Opened the answers segment and resealed it
Linda: Noticed all the subliminal images

🐉 The Discovery of Dragons by Graeme Base
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟/5
Join a trio of intrepid explorers and ever the dangerous domain of dragons! Written and illustrated by Graeme Base, who famously wrote and did the art for Animalia. Now in the guise of Professor Rowland W. Greasebeam, he recounts the discovery of some of the worlds most fearsome dragons- by a 9th century Viking, a 13th century Chinese girl, and a 19th century Prussian cartographer.
I love the art of Graeme Base and his fantastical and dramatic stories, and this one is surely fantastical AND dramatic. Each character progressed on many an adventure, discovering all sorts of dragons, from Northern European dragons to feathery Asian dragons to deadly tropical dragons. Each story was entertaining and fun to follow, though my only complaint is that the characters felt like caricatures of their cultures.
