Today we went to the dispensary to get drugs. While there I ordered a pickup order of breakfast food from a place called Brekkies in Grandview. Never been there before. So we park near Brekkies and I walk in and get the order. It was a bag of stuff and a drink carrier so both my hands were full. While walking back to the car, my phone slipped through a hole in my pocket and all the way down my leg to the ground. I put down the bag to pick up the phone and put it in a different pocket, but after I picked up the bag, the receipt flew away in the wind.
I turned to see where the receipt went when suddenly a pretty blonde pilates instructor appeared from the doorway of the fitness place I was standing outside of! “Are you okay? Are you...” At that moment I thought she was going to say ‘are you going to pick that up,’ because my first thought was of littering and obviously a pilates lady in Grandview is going to have an attitude. “Are you lost?”
Oh! Unexpected kindness!
“Um, no. My hands are full and I dropped my receipt.” And I started to walk back to get the receipt.
“Oh no! I’ll get it for you!”
“No, you really don’t have to do that.”
“It’s okay! Where did it go.. oh! There it is!”
And she picked it up off the ground and handed it to me. She then told me to enjoy my Brekkie’s, which I replied that it was my first time.
“Oh, well it’s overrated. But you should make your own judgement.”
It was such a weird interaction for me. Why did she think I was lost? What did I do to make her so concerned that she left the pilates studio to go outside and help me? Did she think I had dementia and was wandering around unsupervised? Was she irresistibly attracted to me?
She was pretty and nice and not what I expected from all of my previous experiences with pretty women in Grandview.
It was a nice, pleasant experience on a rather nice day and I felt like sharing it before I forget.
