Jinmao Children Headcanon
Okay, so in terms of fan children, we seem to all agree that if Jinshi and Maomao have a son, he's gonna be a mini Maomao. Tiny, curious, energetic about his interests while being a tad more socially adjusted due to having a healthier and more openly affectionate environment than his mother did growing up. Probably love medicines and poisons just as much as his mama, I can also see him liking lizards and insects. Though given his focus on the mind, probably not the most physically capable.
But if they were to have a daughter? I'd say she'd be a mini Jinshi. Like, can you imagine the pretty genes this girl has on both sides of her family?! She'd be so beautiful her parents are going to have to beat off men with sticks and food poisonings (non-lethal, just enough so the idiots will get the point). I imagine whether older or younger, she'd be utterly exasperated by both her mother and brother's antics, probably dragging the later out of trouble. She'd also probably take after her father in that she's more of a jack of all trades rather than a specialist like her mother and the rest of the La Clan. Given her examples, she wouldn't consider herself that impressive only for the royal retainers to consider it a blessing in a disguise she was born a woman otherwise her capabilities would have made her a rival for the crown prince (Gyokuyou's son).
Omake: Family
To Maomao's utter dismay, her children adore their biological maternal grandfather. Lakan is doting to the point of utter cringe, but he does adhere to the rules and standards Maomao sets in order to have a relationship with his grandchildren. If him and his son-in-law agree on one thing it's that no man is good enough for his granddaughter.
They also like their Uncle Lahan and Uncle Lahan's Brother (they consistently call him by his actual name Junjie, brings happy tears to the guy's eyes).
Luomen unfortunately passed away when they were very young, so they didn't really have a relationship with him though they hear about him with great respect.
Granny of Verdigris seems nonchalant compared to the to Three Princesses' doting, but she's happy in her great grandchildren if a tad disappointed that she can't pass the business on to them. She also passes away when they are very young.
Empress Gyokuyou loves it when Maomao brings the children when she visits. Her ladies in waiting are less than pleased at the chaos that is bound to follow with the children's antics. The boy always brings something interesting to play with or interesting ideas to imitate. The girl and Lingli act more like sisters than "cousins".
Ah Duo loves when they come to stay when their parents have to go on trips out of the city, enjoys taking them on "adventures."
In public, the emperor is a stern and authoritative "uncle." In private, it is very clear the man adores the children and loves being with them just as much as Grandpa Lakan.
