The weather was cold, so cold in fact that a thick blanket of snow was now on the ground. It wasn’t the sort of weather one would want to be caught out in but George was quick to spy Maria. His eyes widened when he saw her and he came over quickly enough. “Maria…what on earth are you doing?” George asked his face was curious. “Aren’t you cold…I was just heading in. Had to see to some of my dogs,” He said with a small smile. He would have never done what Maria was doing right now. “Shall I get you some spiced wine? To warm you through?” George asked his face worried.
Maria had been squealing this morning, when she saw the snow covering the ground. Snowfall had started not ten minutes before sundown the day before, and now everything was white. Well, not as it would have been in Moscow, where there snow prevented people from living their homes, but enough that she could spend sometime outside pretending she was home.
She had sprawled herself on the soft bed of snow, and smiled at George as he gazed down at her, surprise and worry in his features. “Why, I’m enjoying the snow. The weather is very mild, wouldn’t you agree?” She knew he was baffled, and if his wife saw her, she would have berated Maria; thankfully, Isabelle was inside with her children, safe from the cold.
“I would love some spiced wine! But if you think you’ll be luring me inside, you’re mistaken. i love the snow,” she concluded, and closed her eyes again, feeling snowflakes falling on her face.
