Fri - What is your favourite idiom? (in any langauge)
It’s one my mum always says in English, but it’s actually Polish - “Nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy” or “Not my circus, not my monkeys”. In our house it’s a weird combination of reminding yourself not to stress about things that are out of your control, and also reminding my mum that for once it’s not her monkeys (ie. her rabble of children) that’s causing the problem! It always makes me think of her, and that makes me smile, and the whole idiom is just a tiny bit silly so it reminds me not to take things too seriously.
