Here’s to all of you who keep our world spinning. And our gratitude.

1510 consecutive (almost) days on this daybreak walk at Cove Island Park. Like in a row. While you are all (mostly all) sleeping, and I’m sleepwalking through my morning walk, so many others are working. Working on a early Sunday morning. Picking up our trash, combing our beaches, keeping our parks clean, tending to our sick in hospitals and keeping our communities safe — while we sit and enjoy our morning coffee easing into our day. Here’s to all of you who keep our world spinning. And our gratitude. DK

Director's Cut ask: Tell me which of the Gratitude chapters has been the most fun for you to write and why!

That’s a hard question actually!! All of the Gratitude chapters have something special, to me.

I really enjoyed writing Twilight’s chapter because I wrote it as I was playing TP for the first time! Colin is so freaking cute. AND THEN THEY HOLD HANDS!!!!!!! I love letting the blorbos hold hands.

Four’s was fun because they were both being very autistic 😂. And then they got to be gremlins. I like letting Sky and Four show their gremlin sides. They’re all Links, they all have one.

Legend’s was fun because Sky Legend best friend duo is my FAVORITE right now. And Sky gets to infodump about Loftwings!!! I left it a little unclear why Legend’s Gratitude crystal formed on purpose. It was a combination of everything Sky did for Legend that chapter, sure, but it was mostly just Legend feeling so lucky and thankful to have a friend like Sky love him back. SCREAMS SOBS /pos

I got the idea for Time’s chapter literally in the middle of the night. I woke up and it was playing in my head like a movie. Those are so fun. I’ve written something very similar to this before, too. It just scratches the brain cells in the right way.

Ok I think if I HAD to choose one chapter, I would choose Time’s. He’s my second favorite in LU so I guess that isn’t surprising :).

We’ve got Wind and Warriors left, and Sky himself. Sky’s chapter is going to be the most tooth-rotting fluff to ever tooth-rotting fluff. You just want. I know what I’m doing for Warriors’ chapter, so that one will probably come out next, but I have no idea what I’ll do for Wind. I’m hoping it’ll just come to me 😂

Gratitude is a priceless antidote to the meekly lived life.

Instead of looking back with a kind of bittersweet fondness on what we failed to appreciate at the time, gratitude practice directs us to appreciate the present as it unfolds right now.

There is no greater sense of luxury than relishing the here and now with every fiber of your being. And there is no greater blessing you can bestow on others than the unhindered love and cherishment that will radiate.
