Thinking about the inherent symbolism in Belos destroying palismen to survive when crafting them is likely what Evelyn did for a living and was likely one of the first things that endeared Caleb to the Boiling Isles

Coming out of my Tumblr slumber (I haven't posted in like 2 years) to tell you that I don't think Belos knows Australia exists. He was a child in 1613, and Dutch explorers began charting the coast of Australia around 1607. In 1788, long after Phillip had left the human realm, the Britsh decided they were going to go to Australia and colonize it, and it didn't become an independent country until 1901. Given that he left the human realm at a time when really only the Dutch had been there, and that he was either a child or preoccupied with other things (like surviving, or his brother running off with a witch), AND that he lived on the edge of civilization where it's not exactly easy to get news of other countries exploring places on the other side of the world, Phillip likely doesn't know about Australia. I bet if anyone tried to tell him he would think they made it up
