It had been a long night. Matthew went to bed at the usual time, 11:00, but as he dreamed, he slept restlessly. He could feel how often he rolled from his side to his back, from his back to his side. His world spun dangerously with each shifting movement until finally the morning came.
He clung tightly to his pillow, looking down at the empty bed below him. A wave of nervousness swept over him as he saw other objects floating in the air. Then he fell. Everything fell with a loud thump, his lamp broke and his bed fell apart from the weight of himself landing heavily. Well, he’d been floating all the way at the ceiling after all.
He still clung tightly to his pillow, unsure what to make of what just happened. The feeling stayed in the pit of his stomach, and he knew without a doubt that today wasn’t a good day to be awake.
