Seen the Light
He felt warm, emotionally warm as he passed through the between of sleep and waking. Matthew rolled over, eyes slowly opening as he tried to recall his dream. It was no use though, it had gone hand in hand with the night, walking towards that glowing sunrise, which had filled his room.
Eyes shot open as he’s caught a glimpse of the clock: 3:47 am! The supposed sunrise had yet to happen, but it was still very bright. Had someone broke into his room? Was that allowed?
He climbed out of bed to flip the switch back to “off” position, but as he reached out he noticed two things. The first was that the switch was already off, so clearly the light came from elsewhere. The second thing he noticed almost simultaneously as the switch was that the light came from himself.
He backed up, bumping into his bed as he did so and fell over it in shock. The light stayed with him, not growing nor lessening at all. Was he going to be stuck glowing for the rest of his life? He forced himself up, shakily moving to his door to scream out: “I think I need a doctor.”
After all, this could be some sort of rare disease. It might kill him. He was too young to die! His mind leapt from worst-case scenario to even worse-case scenario and all he knew was that HE was glowing!
He was so bored. It was a nice place and all. Only three days here but He was so bored. Most bored people would sleep but he couldn’t sleep. He had strange dreams and bad thoughts and over all hated sleep. He would have fever dreams and that was about it. That was why he was awake when he heard the commotion. He knew there was a curfew but He had to see, so he ran into the hallway and down to the room he heard someone calling for a doctor. And he was glowing!
Someone eventually came while Matthew continued to shine in his doorway calling for medical help. He would have left to find the doctor himself, but it was late and he really didn't know where they slept. In all likelihood, the doors should be locked, or at least Matthew thought so. He never bothered to break curfew before.
But there he was, help on his way. Except, Matthew never saw this guy before.”Who are you?” He asked shakily, clutching at the doorframe. “Are you a doctor? Please help me...”
