Calgary, Alta. – The Calgary Hitmen have signed Grayden Siepmann and Brandon Whynott to Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreements.

Siepmann was selected 13th overall in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft with Whynott following closely behind in the second round, 35th overall.

“I was packing for a tournament getting ready to jump on a plane and my parents were watching the draft when they started yelling from the other room saying that I was drafted,” Siepmann said. “When I saw that it was Calgary, I got really excited and couldn’t stop smiling. I know that I am headed to a great organization and so excited to get things started and looking forward to the future.”

Siepmann, listed at 5-foot-11 and 165-pounds, is from Abbotsford, B.C. In 29 games with Yale Hockey Academy Bantam Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL), the defenceman collected 29 points (8G-21A). He also had four points (2G-2A) in his team’s five playoff games.

Whynott, also a Yale Bantam Prep player, recorded 32 points (17G-15A) in 30 games. The 5-foot-11, 152-pound forward from Langley, B.C. also added two points (1G-1A) in the Bantam Prep CSSHL playoffs.

“It’s a day I’ll always remember,” Whynott said. “I was at school and hooked up my computer into the TV and we watched the draft as a class. I saw some friend’s names come up on the draft board and I was celebrating with them, and then I heard my name called. Calgary is where I wanted to go. It’s a great organization and I’m excited to one day play there and witness the awesome fan support that I’ve heard so much about.”
