I’m so sorry, Serenity, but you heard the dentist just as clearly as I did. You have to lose 150 pounds ASAP. And we’ll test your thyroid at your annual exam next month.

(This is a grazing muzzle. There is a narrow hole in the front, so Serenity can only bite off a few blades of grass at a time. She’s worn it before; training a horse to accept a muzzle is a lot like training a dog to accept a muzzle. Serenity just doesn’t like how hard it is to get a good mouthful of grass… or to bite Firefly when she’s feeling bossy.)
