It’s a dream for many to be invited to a Seokjin house party. But if you’re honest, this is not your scene. For one, everyone’s so drunk. For two, whoever you came with has since slithered off to a discrete spot to eat face. The music only gets louder as you push through the disheveled partygoers, each more unfamiliar to you than the last. If any of these people are your classmates, then your ability to recognize them disappeared 16 song ago, along with their clothes.
You look around for your host to say goodbye when you catch a glimpse of Mr Worldwide Kisser himself downing shots with his teammates by the pool. Tae sends you a wink from above his drink when he catches you looking. Jimin’s hyping Hoseok as he readies to take a dare skinny dipping in the pool.
You whip around and run until the smell of musk and booze is replaced with grass and the night air. In your haste, you miss the last porch step and face plant into mud, earning haughty laughter from the preppy jerks behind you. It’s too late to call for a ride so you make your RBF and take the L. No really, L Street. (there’s no Uber in the 1960s, Bighead).
It’s past 3am and there’s not a soul in sight. The moon is full, lighting the way and casting eerie shadows along the sidewalk. A sudden roar of revving engines rips through the silent boulevard before you. The moonlight illuminates the forms of three motorcycles. It’s not safe to be out alone this late. Rumor has it, biker gangs cruise streets at night looking for fights and violating laws. You panic as they slow and one pulls up to you. Whatever thoughts are racing through your head fade as the biker’s face comes into view.
“Sweetheart, what are you doing out here so late?” Namjoon.
“Hey, I was just headed home. It’s been kinda...a bad night.” Honestly, you want nothing more than to run into his long arms and cry. Seeing him outside of math lessons like this pulls you back into reality. You remember who you are and who he is and the mud that clings to your pathetic clothes feels even heavier.
He takes a long pause, searching your eyes. Then he waves a gloved hand at Jungkook and Yoongi waiting on their bikes, “You guys go on, I’m taking Y/N home.”
You squirm onto the back seat, not sure what to do with your hands. Is this happening or did your face-plant earlier send you to heaven?
“I don’t think my helmet will fit your big head so hold on tight to me, okay?”
You never rode on a motorcycle and you never imagined you’d ride this one. The way you are sitting like this. On the leather seat, him between your legs, your knees tightly hugging his thighs. They could take you away in handcuffs. It’s illegal.
He skillfully takes you through the scenic roads. This is the longest way for sure. You hold him tight like he said, accidentally feeling up on his toned chest and stomach through the front of his open jacket.
You’re going fast, the wind making your hair dance like crazy. Your head’s resting on his upper back where you can finally register how good he smells. Of leather, whiskey, wood, and a hint of vanilla. Warm and deep.
You tilt your head back to see the night sky. In this moment, you feel complete peace.
“Hey, we’re here,” he nudges you gently and you unwrap yourself from his torso. You hop off the bike, a bit sore. “Thank you for bringing me home.”
He comes closer and fixes your messy hair. “What are we going to do with your big head, Y/N. Stay away from those parties, especially those jock types.” You wish you could erase the earlier part of the night and replace it with more time with Namjoon.
“You know, you forgot your textbook here last time.”
He quirks an eyebrow, “You’re giving it back? You must be doing well in maths now.”
Your smile dims. “I am actually. Thanks to you, I got my grades up and I’m being recommended for calculus next year.”
Two clowns standing on the driveway, looking at their feet. It’s bittersweet.
You return the book to his hands, lingering. “I really appreciate everything Namjoon. I also enjoyed riding on your motorcycle. That was cool.”
For the first time ever, you see Namjoon smile. And he has dimples?! It’s too much. He’s beaming and you think you might die now. “We should do it again sometime, after you get your sprinklers fixed maybe.”
“That would be nice, Namjoon. And I already did.”
You both laugh. His eyes closed and yours open, taking in this new approachable side of him.
“Not saying you need it Y/N, but, I also tutor calculus.”
