The next morning, sunlight filtered softly through the blinds. Y/N stirred, finding herself trapped in the heavy, warm embrace of Namjoon’s arms. Before she could fully wake up, his phone on the nightstand buzzed continuously.
Namjoon groaned softly, blindly reaching for it and blinking open his eyes. A sleepy, dimpled smile spread across his face as he looked at the screen and turned it toward her. "Look at this," he murmured, his morning voice deep and raspy.
Hoseok: Y/N-AH!!!! Good morning!! Hope you rested well! ☀️ Studio invite stands!
Taehyung: Hyung, don't steal her. Y/N, art gallery at 2 PM? I will pick you up. 🎨
Jin: Yah, let her breathe! She is probably exhausted from rescuing my dishes from Namjoon. Good morning Y/N! 🍲
Yoongi: The dinner was good. Y/N, let's talk more about that intellectual property law case next time.
Jimin: Have a beautiful day Y/N-ah! We are so glad you're ours now~ 🥰
Jungkook: Welcome to the chaos noonim!! 🐰✨
Y/N hid her blushing face in Namjoon’s chest, her heart melting as his deep chuckle vibrated against her cheek.
Three days later, the quiet apartment was filled with the nervous energy of anticipation. Namjoon was at the Hybe studio working on a new track, and Y/N was pacing the living room floor. Suddenly, her phone rang. An official corporate number.
Her heart hammered as she answered. “...We are absolutely thrilled to offer you the Senior Associate position at our firm, Miss Y/N.”
Hand over her mouth, she thanked them, hung up, and immediately dialed Namjoon. He picked up on the first ring. "Hey, beautiful, everything okay?"
"Joonie..." her voice cracked with emotion. "I got it. I got the job."
A loud crash echoed through the line, followed by Namjoon's ecstatic shout. "Yes! I knew it! Give me one second—" She could hear him yelling to the producers in the room, "She got it! My girl got the job!" He came back to the phone, breathing heavily. "I am so incredibly proud of you, Y/N. I'm coming home early tonight. Let’s celebrate."
By 8:00 PM, the apartment smelled heavenly of rich, savory Galbi-jjim (braised short ribs) and a bubbling pot of Doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew)—all of Namjoon's ultimate comfort foods.
The click of the front door lock made Y/N turn around. Namjoon walked in, his eyes lighting up the moment he saw her. In his hands, he held a stunning bouquet of her favorite flowers and a small, ridiculously cute brown teddy bear wearing a tiny celebratory ribbon.
"For the most brilliant lawyer in Seoul," he beamed.
Y/N didn't even care about the gifts; she ran straight into his arms, wrapping herself around him. Namjoon caught her easily, burying his face in her neck as they shared a deep, breathless kiss filled with pure relief and joy.
They sat cross-legged at the table, Namjoon eagerly taking his first bite of the home-cooked meal. He let out a dramatic hum of satisfaction. "Ah, Y/N, this is amazing. You completely outdid yourself."
"You deserve it for working so hard," she smiled, pouring him some water. "I'm just so excited to finally start working. I love the law because it gives a voice to people who feel completely helpless against giant systems. To analyze a complex problem and actually fix someone's life with logic... it’s the best feeling."
Namjoon watched her, his eyes full of profound admiration. He reached across the table to squeeze her hand. "You're going to change lives, Y/N. Hearing you talk about it makes me realize how similar our passions are."
"How so?" she asked softly.
Namjoon leaned back, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "With music, I try to give people a voice, too. But being a leader... it’s different. At first, it felt like a heavy armor I had to wear. I thought I had to be perfect, to never break anything or make mistakes. But now? I realize being a leader just means being the steady ground for the people I love. It’s about listening, absorbing the pressure so the guys can shine, and moving forward together. When I see them succeed, or when a fan says our words helped them survive a dark night... that's when the weight of leadership feels like the greatest honor in the world."
He looked at her, his dimples cutting deep into his cheeks. "And now, I get to be the leader of our little team right here, too."
A deep crimson blush crept up Y/N’s cheeks at his words, her heart fluttering wildly against her ribs. She looked down at her plate for a second, overwhelmed by how deeply she cared for this man, before looking back up into his warm, steady eyes.
"I love you, Joonie," she said softly, her voice thick with genuine emotion. "So much."
Namjoon’s expression softened completely. The fierce, confident leader of the world’s biggest band melted away, leaving just the man who adored her. He reached across the table, taking her hand in his and rubbing his thumb over the back of her knuckles. "I love you too, Y/N. More than I can put into words."
After they finished cleaning up the kitchen together, laughing and talking more about her upcoming first day at the firm, Namjoon looked out the floor-to-ceiling windows. The city was glowing, and the night air looked crisp and inviting.
"Hey," he said, turning to her with a boyish grin. "Do you want to go for a night walk? We could head down near the Han River."
Y/N froze for a fraction of a second, a sudden wave of anxiety tightening in her chest. The Han River was a public hotspot. Even late at night, people were always around. "Right now?" she asked, her voice dropping to a nervous whisper. "Joon, what if... what if someone sees us? What if the media or fans spot you? I'm just scared of what could happen because of who you are."
Namjoon immediately noticed the worry in her eyes. He stepped closer, gently placing his hands on her shoulders to ground her. He gave her a reassuring, dimpled smile that instantly made the world feel safer.
"Hey, don't worry, beautiful," he murmured, his voice low and soothing. "We will just wear caps and face masks. I’m an expert at hiding in plain sight, remember? Nobody is going to ruin this night for us. I've got you."
Relief washed over her as she looked at his confident expression. Nodding, she smiled up at him, ready to take on the city by his side.
A few minutes later, they stepped out into the crisp night air. Namjoon had pulled a dark beanie low over his forehead and wore a simple black face mask, while Y/N wore a matching cap.
As they approached the paved paths of the Han River park, the area was surprisingly alive with people. Couples were strolling, friends were sitting on picnic blankets, and cyclists zoomed past under the glow of the streetlights. Y/N’s heart gave a nervous flutter as a small group of teenagers walked right past them, laughing loudly.
She instinctively tightened her grip on Namjoon’s hand.
Instead of letting go, Namjoon twisted his fingers, locking them securely with hers. He squeezed her hand firmly, pulling her just a little bit closer to his side. His large, steady presence was like a shield. As they walked right through the crowds, completely unnoticed, the initial fear in Y/N’s chest began to melt away, replaced by a rush of pure adrenaline and joy.
She looked up at him, her eyes crinkling into a smile beneath the brim of her hat. Leaning in close, she softly whispered, "This feels so freeing, Joon."
Namjoon looked down at her, his eyes crinkling right back as a warm, dimpled smile hid beneath his mask. He squeezed her hand again, his heart swelling because he could finally share a normal, everyday moment with the woman he loved.
After walking for a while, they found a quieter, secluded spot away from the main path. They stepped up to the railing, where the cool river breeze swept over them, making the water ripple with the reflection of Seoul's glittering skyline.
They stood there for a moment in comfortable silence, just listening to the soft lapping of the water.
Namjoon turned his body toward her, leaning his hip against the railing. He reached out, gently pulling her into his space. Slowly, deliberately, he lowered his face to hers. With their fabric face masks still on, he pressed his lips against hers. Even through the thin layers of cloth, the kiss was deeply warm, sweet, and filled with a breathless kind of electricity. It was their own secret world.
When he pulled back, Y/N immediately slid her arms around his waist, burying her face into his chest. Namjoon wrapped his long arms tightly around her, resting his chin securely on top of her head.
Together, wrapped in each other's warmth, they turned back toward the water. They held each other tight, watching the quiet river flow into the night, both of them excited for the beautiful future they were building together.
