Rolling Your Rock At Rockingham Golf Course
On a recent trip to the West Coast, I visited a southern Perth golf track. Rolling your rock at Rockingham Golf Course is a real pleasure. The patchwork quilt colouring of the greens may be slightly off-putting but the roll is true. I thought of them as works of art after awhile like a Jackson Pollock painting. Getting to these pretty greens was even more aesthetically appealing. This is the epitome of WA golf, with gum tree lined fairways and the surrounding bush dotted with Xanthorrhoea. Perth is very green at this time of year having had plenty of rain.
Golfing At The Rockingham Golf Club
Relaxed and friendly are the professional staff at this beautiful golf course. I played in the Saturday comp and was fitted into a great 4 ball grouping. Competitive juices were pumping as two of my fellow golfers traded trash-talk throughout the day. All done with a sense of fun; and both showed me around the course, as it was my first time there. Kangaroos enjoy the surrounding bush and there is nothing on earth as relaxing as observing a kangaroo lounging about. It was a perfect day for golf, and a good time was had by all.
Rockingham’s Back Nine
The back nine is less hilly and a more traditional WA style golf course. It reminded me of some moments I have had at special golf courses around Perth. Lovely fairways and vistas toward green complexes amid that distinctive Western Australian nature. My score improved on the back nine, as I relaxed into my round. I even hit a few real golf shots for a change. The greens were subtle and demanded concentration. Two tiered greens always get me thinking about my approaches. Rolling your rock at Rockingham Golf Course is a real pleasure, especially when you have hit the green in regulation.
The Facilities At Rockingham Golf Club
The Rockingham Golf Course provides a golf range to warm up on, as well as the usual putting and chipping practice areas. The clubhouse is an inviting and well-appointed space to enjoy a beverage post-round. Plenty of parking and it is just down the road from the Rockingham Hospital, as a well-known marker to find the place. I can assure you that you will enjoy a round of golf at Rockingham, whether in competition or just for fun.
Aussie Men Love Sport
“This is how the equation goes. Australian men love sport. Therefore, the money men saw it as an opportunity and so we got professional sport. Football being the sports of choice in this regard with AFL and NRL being the main codes professionalised and commercialised. Sponsor logos on the jerseys and signage around the ground soon spread to every which way you look there be a commercial association between team and company. The players now earn salaries in the million dollar vicinity if they are any good. Some getting overs and many just under to do the thing that, in many cases, they love.”
