I would like a Green Lantern sequel.
So, I really want a Green Lantern sequel.
Hear me out, y'all. Different director, different writer, and way deeper story, but the same cast.
I want a Green Lantern sequel where Hal has grown to such popularity in the Corps. that the fundamental nature of the Corps is changing, bureaucratically and militarily. People are starting to fight like Hal fights, using their fear as a motivation for their will. Many Lanterns, led Sinestro, do not agree with this perversion of the opposing energies; they feel they must employ one or the other. These lanterns embrace the yellow ring Sinestro forged, and become the Sinestro Corps. They wage war against the Green Lanterns, each army led by Sinestro and Hal, respectively.
At this point, the story starts to borrow from the Emerald Twilight storyline. Sinestro takes the battle to Hal's home of Coast City, to really exploit Hal's fear by making him afraid not only for himself, but for his loved ones. Carol dies, and the rest of the city is leveled in the process. The Green Lanterns win, but there are no celebrations, for within, their leader has fallen.
Hal's depression and need for his loved ones' revival leads him to beg the Guardians to give him the power to recreate Coast City. They refuse, partially because they're dicks (they're the Guardians after all) but also because they know how dangerous this would make him. He doesn't take no for an answer, and whips out Sinestro's ring and puts it on his other hand. None of the Guardians saw it coming. Then Hal kills them all in the blink of an eye.
The yellow of the ring starts to cover his body, sharing his suit with the green in equal parts. One of his eyes goes green, the other goes yellow. Parallax is born. Hal lays waste to most of the corps, but one (probably Tomar-Re) escapes to Earth to deliver the ring to Kyle Rayner/John Stewart (I'd prefer John Stewart but canon calls for Rayner).
The new power-mad Hal Jordan becomes the villain for the Justice League film.
