Bug of the Day
A surprise green marvel (Acronicta fallax) at the porch light last night. Beautiful lichen mimic!
19 May 2017: At this time of year I work almost every waking minute, and also some minutes when I should be sleeping.
green marvel (acronicta fallax)
– the green marvel presents with light green and black patterning across their wings. their coloring helps blend into things like lichen and moss.
– typical adult wingspan is around 34mm.
– theyre usually found throughout most of north america, with a large population in new england.
– though they look similar, the markings on females are often darker than the males.
