Hey, my ID app was being finicky on these little guys so I was wondering if you could help ID!

All from Canada, top two and bottom left were found in Brandon, Manitoba and bottom right was found on the lake in Gimli, Manitoba. Thanks so much for the help! Fun bug photos are always a joy!

First fella looks like a waved sphinx and the second is a tiger moth in the genus Spilosoma, probably a Virginian tiger moth. The butterfly is one of the sub-species of the red-spotted admiral, Limenitis arthemis, though idk which one offhand. And finally the last fella is a mayfly, probably a giant mayfly in the genus Hexagenia.

UPDATE: Someone asked about hugging, I do not blame you but the scales are so delicate, they shed easily. Updated to add a close up of its leg, you can see where a scale already fell off...

Two very cute friends! That beetle is absolutely precious. That fella is a blister beetle in the genus Epicauta, and the moth is a waved sphinx :)

Saw this moth at school today! Google said it was a Waved Sphinx, and it looks close to a lot of the images I saw of them.

She [I think, I'm not sure if the fluffy antenna being male is strictly across all moth species] was very chill and let me hold her for a second so I could get this picture [mostly for size comparison to my hand]. Arguably the largest moth I've ever seen in person, and a very gorgeous one at that :)

Yes, looks like a waved sphinx! Antennae size isn't a good indicator of sex in this species since the males don't have big bushy ones. Very large and beautiful regardless of sex though :)

@aprilmoths submitted: Not a bug, but a bug part. I found what I'm pretty sure is a moth wing in my backyard and I thought it was pretty (though I'm kinda sad a moth probably died to leave this wing). It's also about 5 cm long, so it's pretty big compared to a lot of the moths we usually see around here in [removed] (please remove location). If you can try and ID the moth it came from with just the wing I'd really appreciate it.

It's a sphinx moth for sure, and I think probably a waved sphinx, although obviously I'd feel more confident about that if I had the whole moth to ID. Either way, yes it is certainly dead now and likely the body was eaten by a bird or ants or something. Moths don't tend to live long as adults anyway, so there's a good chance it lived its natural life and reproduced, which is what they're meant to do! Then its body went to feed something else, so it wasn't wasted :)
